So I decided to change Madisons name to Mackenzie, just because I just realized that that is also a name in the second book of this series. Hope it wont be too confusing moving forward! Also with school and all I have been pretty busy so I apologize for late updates!

Entering and locking the door behind me, the smell of musk and beer hit me like a wave. Empty beer cans littered the stain marked beige carpet and trash was thrown everywhere.

Placing my backpack in my room I began to clean up knowing that he would be angry to return to a filthy house. Not that it made much difference since him and his friends would just trash the place up again.

As I finished cleaning up and began on the dishes my mind drifted.
Since I could remember this had been my life. Cleaning after him and his friends, being his punching bag, his -plaything. Revulsion stirred in the pit of my stomach.

I was isolated, made to be at his beck and call and do what he wanted. The only freedom I had was school and work, work that he had only agreed to with the threat of killing me. And even now, I knew he would do just that if I defied him. My goal was to make it to graduation- alive.

I started on dinner since he would be back around five and expected food ready by the time he was home on days that I did not work.

My eyes flitted to the fridge where my schedule was printed out. Every week I was expected to have it printed and on the fridge for him to see.

But what he didn't know was of my work release, and for that I was grateful since I was able to make extra cash. I had a couple grand saved up in total that would be enough to get me a bus ticket and a couple motel stays until I was able to get on my feet.

Finishing up I headed outside to my bike. The guys practice started at 2:30 and I had to be back by 4:30.

I shoved on a beanie over my slightly growing hair, which became my saving grace from him finding out I had cut his precious hair.

I made my way back towards the school. When I walked up to the bleachers I was surprised to see that they were half filled, groups of girls bundled up in their warm winter wear .

"Sam, here " I looked up to find Mackenzie bundled up in a beige fluffy jacket with a matching beanie over her chestnut hair. I made my way to the second row of bleachers where she sat, her nose and cheeks slightly tinged pink from the cold.

As I sat down on the cold metal she wrapped her arm around mine. I tensed slightly at the touch but relaxed seconds later.

"I'm glad you came. " she beamed.

"Of course, I told Chris and Don I would be here. " I replied , as my eyes strayed to the field where the guys where warming up.

"Don and Chris will be out in a second, they take their time coming out sometimes. " Mackenzie said bedside me just as they walked out of the boys locker room back door that lead to the field.

I took a moment to let my eyes take in Chris. Tousled hair, with his dark blue and white Wolverines soccer uniform. The shirt seemed to fit him perfectly, fitting to his broad shoulders and narrow waist. Across his chest was a duffel bag.

Before he could catch me ogling him I turned my eyes to Don. He wore the same uniform, a similar bag slung over his shoulder.

Now these were a couple of good-looking guys.

As if pulled by a magnetic force my gaze strayed to Chris once more, he had a frown on his face. I wondered why.

Don told him something and bumped his shoulder with his. Chris nodded and they made their way up the stairs of the bleachers, their cleats making a thud every time they stepped.
