Feels Like Just Yesterday

I was sitting in a local cafe, or well the closest thing this part of the city could get to a 'cafe' as I waited for my targets to enter through the glass door.

I knew they were coming, they did every Thursday like clockwork, a piece of information that was originally tipped off to me by my superior and I had observed this routine myself over the last few weeks.

They always come on a Thursday and they always order the same drinks
Green had apple juice
Red and Blue ordered boba
White ordered jasmine tea
And black always had the same
Black coffee
Each of their drinks somewhat fitted with the individual personas the ninja had come up with for themselves

How ironic

They're stupid to walk around the city in their ninja uniforms
Way to make your location obvious to pretty much everyone
Whether it is actually stupidity or maybe just plain arrogance I don't know and quite frankly I don't care it just makes my job easier. A text came through on my cell right as the bell above the glass door of the cafe chimed alerting me that someone had entered.

??? : don't fuck up Y/N
Oh please

I rolled my eyes at the text, how dare he threaten me I never fucked up ever and looked up spotting the very colourful ninja I'd been waiting for. I watched the group of boys walk up to the counter swarmed by fangirls who had probably also memorized their routine much like I had but for very different reasons.

I watched in silence sipping slowly on my tea as my large sunglasses shrouded my identity, the average human could never guess that I was watching them but I was caught by surprise when the green ninja looked back at me as if he knew
How does he know
He nudged his teammate discretely nodding his head in my direction
Now they all knew

There was a long awkward silence, tensions were high and I could see the lot were trying to figure out amongst themselves what they were going to do. When they started moving towards my table I bailed, information isn't worth the risk of getting caught but maybe in retrospect I should have stood my ground

First mistake

Running made me look guilty, obviously, but I had already done it there's no going back now. Dodging busy pedestrians on the side of the street all on their way somewhere and everyone seemed to be in a rush today. I could hear the ninja's voices as they followed after me, the green ninja leading as usual, but my smaller younger frame made it easier for me to sneak through the crowd until eventually, I disappeared from their line of sight.

I slipped into an alleyway undetected and made myself as small as I can against one of the walls while inwardly cringing
Disgusting
I heard the ninja's voices as they ran past and stopped by the entrance
"where is she?"
"Great well done Kai you lost her"
"ME?! What about you Jay?"
"guys..."
"I'm not the one who wouldn't ditch his drink you slowed us down"
"guys!"
"This conflict is not helping our situation we must make haste if we plan to find her"
"SHUT UP ZANE!" they all screamed in unison
"GUYS"
"Can I speak now?" that voice belonged to the black ninja, I could see his shadow following each of his movements as he spoke
"she looked familiar maybe its someone we know"
"Everyone looks familiar to you Cole"
Another ninja retorted sarcastically

My ears started to ring when I heard that name
C...
Cole?
COLE?
COLE IS THE EARTH NINJA
my head was spinning and I slid down the alley wall trying to ground myself. With my head between my knees, I slammed my hands against my ears
Every nerve was screaming at me saying
RUN Y/N
But I stayed glued to the ground

How am I supposed to take them out now?

Part of me was angry, angry that he never told me. This isn't something that just slips your mind no it was something else
But he's my brother he should have told me
HOW DARE HE NOT TELL ME

"Y/......"
"Y/N....."
"Y/N!"
"Y/N WAKE UP!"
I opened my eyes to two chestnut hues staring down at me filled with concern
"what's happening?" I rasped
"you looked like you were having a nightmare" Cole's brows were furrowed letting the frown lines that graced his forehead fall so deep they looked like they would be at risk of becoming permanent.
"something like that"
I groaned trying to get up as a sharp pain pierced my chest and my arms gave out from under me making me collapse.
"hey hey be careful you're getting weaker you can't risk hurting yourself"
I lay there hopeless
This is how I'm going to die

I always thought my death would be valiant in battle or peaceful because of old age, but this... This felt humiliating how would I be remembered? Y/N the elemental master who succumbed to the venom of a spider bite...

In a noodle factory
Just great
