MISSION SAVING A QUILL was a go, one that Layla knew was riddled with risks and uncertainties. Yet, as she stood alongside Owen, facing down Yondu's formidable Ravager ship, she couldn't suppress the gnawing sense of urgency pulsating within her. It was a gamble, a desperate bid to rescue her father from certain peril, even if it meant defying all rationality and siding with a talking raccoon.

Rocket, the self-proclaimed tactician of their ragtag group, took center stage, his voice cutting through the tension like a knife. "Attention, idiots," he called out to the assembled Ravagers, his tone laced with contempt.

"The lunatic on top of this craft is holding a Hadron Enforcer, a weapon of my own—"

Before Rocket could finish his ominous declaration, Owen barged in with all the subtlety of a wrecking ball, eager to assert his presence. "AND WE'RE GONNA BLOW YOUR SHIP UP—" Layla's swift intervention, a tug on his shoulder, brought Owen to an abrupt halt, his momentum disrupted by her timely intervention. "Owen!" she admonished, her frustration bubbling to the surface at his impulsive outburst.

"Sorry! I got excited!" Owen's sheepish apology only served to underscore Layla's exasperation. Sometimes she wondered how she had ended up with someone as impulsive and reckless as Owen.

Rocket shot them both a withering glare before resuming his tirade, his irritation palpable in every word he spoke. "As I was saying, before I was so rudely interrupted, this is a weapon of my own design," he asserted, his emphasis on the word "rudely" serving as a pointed reminder of Owen's folly.

Amidst the escalating tension, Layla couldn't help but notice Yondu's incredulous response. "What the hell?" his voice echoed through the commotion, a testament to the gravity of their predicament. Layla's heart sank at the realization that their ploy might have backfired, condemning them to a fate worse than they could have imagined.

"If you don't hand over our companions now," Rocket interjected, his voice laced with an undercurrent of menace, "as the kid said, he's gonna tear your ship a new one, a very big new one!" His threat hung in the air, a stark reminder of the high stakes they were playing for.

"I ain't buying it," Yondu's retort was swift and resolute, casting a shadow of doubt over their audacious plan. Yet, in the face of adversity, Layla refused to yield, her resolve unshaken as she braced herself for whatever fate awaited them.

Layla sprang into action, her instincts kicking in as she propelled herself forward to intervene, just as she had scolded Owen moments ago. Her hypocrisy wasn't lost on her, but in the heat of the moment, all that mattered was ensuring their survival. "You better believe it, Yondu!" she exclaimed, her voice resolute despite the chaos unfolding around them.

"Mini Quill? The hell you doin' over there?" Yondu's incredulous voice cut through the commotion, drawing Layla's attention.

Before she could respond, Rocket interjected, pushing her back with a surprising amount of force. Layla stumbled but quickly regained her footing, her frustration simmering beneath the surface. Owen flashed her a grin, oblivious to the gravity of their situation. "Fun, am I right?" he remarked, his nonchalance grating on Layla's nerves. She resisted the urge to roll her eyes, her patience wearing thin with each passing second.

"Jesus, what's with you kids," Rocket muttered under his breath, his irritation palpable as he refocused his attention on Yondu and their mission to save Peter and Gamora.

"I'm giving you to the count of five," Rocket declared, his voice carrying a note of urgency. "FIVE—"

"Rocket, it's me, for god's sakes! We figured it out! We're fine!" Peter's voice rang out, cutting through Rocket's countdown. Layla's heart skipped a beat at the sound of her father's voice, relief flooding her senses. She couldn't help but conceal a smile, her worry dissipating in an instant, replaced by a flood of gratitude.
