Professor Snape had told my mom about the detention. I learned about that when my mother sent her first letter this year. Normally she was sending a letter every week, but this year she sent me only one stupid letter that said how proud she was of me for getting closer with Riddle. She didn't care about the detention itself, she only cared that I was closed in a room with Tom for an hour. I couldn't believe her.

Since the detention night I have been avoiding Tom. Every time I had seen him in the hallways I started walking the other way and in the classes that we had together I was sitting at the other side of the classroom. I just couldn't look at him without getting embarrassed. I couldn't help but notice when he was sneaking a glance at me. It was really awkward seeing him around and the fact that I had to marry him in less then a week was driving me insane.

Today they were giving our N.E.W. T.s back. I was shocked when I saw my results. I didn't fail anything. I guess I'm just naturally smart.

"Hey, how did you do?" Tom spoke to me for the first time since the detention. "Good enough." I responded "How did you do?" I asked, realising Tom wasn't going away. I preferred to talk to him than just stand next to each other in awkward silence. "Not to brag about it, but all perfect scores." he said and chuckled "Wasn't expecting anything else from you." I giggled. I couldn't believe that it was actually nice talking to him. I supposed he could be nice if he wanted to. Perhaps he wasn't the heartless monster I thought he was. Perhaps he was changing. "Look, Y/n, I'm sorry, I didn't mean to make you that uncomfortable that day at the detention. I mean-" I couldn't believe in my ears. Tom the Heartless Manipolator Riddle was apologising. "I know." I decided to interrupt him to end his suffering. "No, I'm actually sorry. It won't happen again I promise." he said and he actually looked like he meant it so I decided to trust him about that. "It's okay." I tried to comfort him and he smiled barely perceptibly. "Y/n, you coming?" Pansy called me "Well, see you at the wedding?" I wasn't sure if I'd see him before the wedding. He only nodded in response and I followed Pansy.

*On the train after graduating*

After our little talk I haven't seen Tom. I had the feeling that the earth swallowed him up and he disappeared forever.

I was getting on the train back home. My friend group had already got on the train and were waiting for me. As I was passing by compartments of the train I couldn't help but notice Tom's siluet in one. Without thinking I opened the door and walked in. I immediately regretted it, though. Tom was in the middle of a making out session with a ravenclaw girl. "Sorry." I said as they split up and realised that someone had walked in. "Y/n, I can explain." Tom's eyes got wider and only for a second I saw fear in them, but then it quickly disappeared and his emotionless gaze came back "You don't have to explain anything." I stormed out of the compartment and started running to find an empty one.

Why was I feeling sad or maybe even mad about it? In fact, why was I feeling anything? I didn't fancy Tom I didn't even like him in any way. He is the heartless monster I thought he was and he will never change. I couldn't help but let the bitter tears run down my face. Sure, we weren't getting married out of love, but he didn't have to cheat or maybe I'm just overreacting we didn't get married yet so it's not cheating.

After the train stopped I got my stuff and hurried to get out before any of my friends or Tom could see me. My eyes were red because of the roar. I saw my mom standing and waiting for Draco and me. Once again I was 11 and I was coming home from my first year at Hogwarts.

I ran up to her and hugged her tightly. It felt warm and comfortable as always, but then I snapped back to reality and quickly stepped back. She was one of the reasons because of I wasn't going to enjoy the rest of my life. "Where's your brother?" she asked. Really, was that all she wanted to tell me after all this time she hadn't seen me? "Probably still on the train." I snapped annoyed.

Once Draco manged to get to us we headed home. The ride was silent as always, no one was taking to no one. What a great family we were.
