"Yemisi! Yemisi oooo!"y mum's call cuts my alien invasion dream
"Ooh" I mumbled
I can't believe it's Monday. If I had known, I would have not watch that movie.
"Yemisi, o de dide(Wake up, will you)!" my mum cried opening my room door
I quickly stood up. "Mummy, I'm up. Good morning" I said before a slap wakes me up
"Kaaro (good morning)" my mum greeted back
"Oya lo we(Go and have your bath)" I nodded and hurried to the bathroom.
After I got dressed for school, I hurried downstairs for breakfast.
I met my twin brother Kayode at the dining table. "Morning Yemisi" he greeted.
I gave him a stink eye.
"What's that for?" he asked
"Sebi I told you to wake me up. You're doing like we did not watch the film together" I pouted sitting down on my chair
"Well I quite remember somebody tell me not to disturb her" he replied.
I wanted to argue but the memories of me saying "Leave me alone Kayode" flashed through my mind and I clammed up.
He smiled at me and I looked away.
We finished our breakfast and got ready for school.
I'm starting a new school today and the feeling is horrible.
"Mummy, we are leaving" my brother called
"Wait, wait" my mum called us back from her room
We waited looking at her to say something
"E wole sinu iyara fun mi jare(Enter the room quickly)" she said
I took her study seat and my brother sat on the table.
We both looked at her
"I hope you both remember why you have to change schools?" my mum asked
I nodded
"Yemisi" she said facing me "Not every action deserves the same reaction" she continued
"Hmm, nice Physics metaphor mum" I thought
"Yemisi se o n gbo mi(are you listening)?" my mum asked
"Yes ma" I replied quickly
"You guys should remember the child of whom you are" my mum continued her speech
"Yes mummy, point taken. No bad behavior and Yemisi should not ........" He was saying until I kicked him and eyed him
"Mum, thank you, love you bye" I said smiling and dragging Kayode outside with me.
I quickly entered the car.
"Good morning Mr. Johnson" I greeted the driver
My brother entered the passenger's seat and we were headed on our way
"Why did you kick me?" he asked
"When you will not let bygones be bygones. Must you mention my past" I said sternly
"Pele oo, past haver" he sneered
"Hearing you say that makes me wonder how you got best in English" I replied back
"For someone who calls me "world taster" you really have a lot to say" he shot back
"Isn't that the literal meaning of your name Taiwo" I replied sarcastically
"I don't even know why...." Kayode was saying
"Will the both of you please keep quiet" Mr. Johnson snapped at both of us
I bit my lower lip and turned to face the window thinking about how this new school is going to be like.
