“Tricia!” his voice called

I hated him so much

“Tricia! I have more than enough to give you” he called again

I could hear others snickering

He placed his hand on mine and said “Tricia”

“Don’t touch me!” I screamed jumping up

“Why this again” I said rubbing my eyes

I picked up my phone and checked the time

11:12 am

“Yeeeeh” I exclaimed

I rushed downstairs

“Se e sun dada (Did you sleep well)?” mum asked sarcastically

She was in the parlor settling nicely with a book

“You know because there isn’t school doesn’t give you right to wake up this late” Kayode said

He was sitting adjacent mum with his phone

Watching anime maybe

“Morning mom” I greeted

“A ti e ro pe o ni ji mo(We even thought you wouldn’t wake up anymore)” mum said again sarcastically this time looking at me

“But I’m awake, aren’t I?” I said opening my arms wide showing them I looked well

I moved to the dining table and saw my food

As I wanted to sit, I heard mum say “Oluwayemisi Tricia Adekunle. Rule No. 5”

I huffed as moved to the bathroom

Rule No.5 states that no child in this house can eat or drink anything without bathing and brushing

I rushed back to the dining room

“In 10 minutes Yemisi!” mum exclaimed

“I got no time to lose” I replied

I settled with the food

After my breakfast I returned to my room

Ireti and I were discussing possible suspects and those who might need questioning

I heard a car drive in

Mum was home

Hope Alessia’s mum isn’t here for her rubbish

I hurried downstairs to stop mum from going outside

The person I saw at our entrance shocked me

There stood Mr. Gerald Bailey

I remembered when I left primary school about 4 years ago

I told myself I wanted to have a big company like him

I admired him

He was a perfect role model

Then it clicked

He’s my father

But he rejected me

Us

The thought made me want to spit in his face and regret ever liking him

He knew what mum went through till she met him

She knew she had made the biggest mistake

All she needed from him was for him to take what was his. Us
