SIX

Morten carefully pushed open the door, looking into the hallway.

"Anything?" Agnus asked behind him.

"No" Morten said, "You think the girls would have told us?"

"What? That the real test was to tickle them just right? And if you were successful they'd give us food? Or take us to dinner" Agnus said, shaking his head, " don't be silly! "

A door to their right opened, making both of them shut up.
A young man stuck his head through the opening,

" hello? " He said, carefully.

" Yes, hello! " Morten called.

" Oh, hey, you know if there's any food anywhere? " The man asked.

At this Agnus just opened the door, Morten almost toppled out having been leaning against it.

" This is ridiculous! We just ran circles around a jungle, over obstacles, completing weird tasks and solving questionable riddles.
Is this another test?
To find ourselves food?"
He barked as he stepped out.

The other man stepped into the hallway, deciding it must be safe.
He wasn't wrong, Agnus hadn't been killed doing so.

He was a blue.
His hair in thick waves, wearing an oversized dark green tunic over his pants.

" You had a strange woman in your room too? " He asked.

" His was nude" said Agnus, pointing at Morten.

Morten blushed violently, " Wait! Yours wasn't nude? "

Agnus shrugged,
" She was on the balcony in some robe she started untying as soon as I spoke to her.
I didn't need her to go any further."

Looking at the blue, Morten noticed he was young.
Very young.

" You- you send her away? " Morten asked,
wondering if he had been more successful then he had been.

The blue nodded, making him seem even younger and Morten feel more stupid.

" You're the one that jumped? " He said, indicating Morten.

Morten got momentarily confused by this, he had still been stuck on not having been exactly successful at rebuffing a naked women.

" You mean, at the start?
Yes I was." Morten replied.

" You dove?" He continued, looking at Agnus.

Morten turned towards Agnus, "You.. what?"

Agnus had just nodded dryly but turned back to Morten.
"I just dove down, stupid, seeing as I could have leaped like you did.
But, it hadn't occur to me."

The blue continued, gesturing at Agnus, "he was the first one over that didn't leap like you did."

Morten was actually impressed, he and Wolf had been too busy to catch much of the early chaos at the ledge. Morten had just leaped and moved on as quickly as he could, seeing the rampage going on.

By the sounds of it Agnus had thrown himself off the cliff into the water and climbed the rope wall at some impossible speed, he must have jumped down on the other side, figured out the weeds and somehow got through the correct gate first.

" How.. " Morten considered how to phrase the question,
" did you get through the gates? "

Agnus smiled," your footsteps in the sand, you also slightly bend the key jamming it in."

Holy crap, he hadn't even thought about that, tracks!

" Don't worry, I shuffled and jogged around the area before taking the door. Covering your footsteps. " Agnus winked.
