Agnus pulled the sword swiftly out of the scabbard.
He waved a hand as if to present the movement,
"easy like this."

Morten nodded, as did the other man.
Morten was standing besides Agnus, before a group of young man standing in a semi circle a little away from Agnus's demonstration. He was teaching a class in one of the little courtyards on the council grounds, Morten was assisting.

"But what," Agnus barked,
"If we find our dominant hand, for most right, preoccupied?" Agnus asked the young man around him.

"Pre-what?" Asked a young man.

Agnus tempered a sigh,
"Preoccupied, it might be holding an enemy, injured or the classic 'Holding in your guts' that I'm pretty sure Morten here would enlighten you about as he has personal experience with it?"

Morten nodded somewhat apologetically.
Either way, he certainly had found his right side preoccupied before.

Another young man called out,
"you grab it with the other!"

Agnus nodded,
"indeed we do."
He gestured at Morten to demonstrate.

Morten looked a bit doubtful, spotting the issue and the absolute show he was going to put on now, he tried to grab for the heft with his left hand, left on left... An absolute disaster.

He first found a problem with the fact that the long sword was simply to long to get out of the scabbard with his left, the arm on the side of the sword. He couldn't swing it out and trying to move it, he almost cut his own side.
He stuck it back and tried again, turning his hand, so the sword might swing differently,
But this didn't go anywhere.

Agnus actually shook his head a bit, possibly having expected just a bit more problem-solving skills on his part.
"Okay, stop before you hurt yourself."

Morten couldn't help but redden half embarrassed as the younger man laughed.

"Just a reminder that Morten here is a hunter, not a guard. And he's taken bad injuries in battle. You all would have probably done much worse "

That shut them up.

He waved at Morten to give him space.
"You see, if there's unimportant things in your dominant hand?
Drop it. Always drop it.
Food, other weapons, girls?
Just let go!"

He looked around at the man.

"We can assume therefore that you will only need to draw your sword with your other hand in very dangerous situations. So we can simply do the following"
He pulled his sword from his scabbard so fast it made several of them flinch and proceeded to swing it, blade pointing outward and upside down from how you usually held it.

"You can use a sword like this, almost like a dagger. You are very likely trying to defend yourself and this works well for defense."
He demonstrated some movement with it, swinging it wide alongside his lower arm.

" If your sword is in good condition it should be dangerous all around, not just the pointy bit at the end. "

The man nodded.
Agnus slid the sword back in it's scabbard.

" Careful though, me and Morten are quite tall, clearing it from the scabbard is the major issue as Morten demonstrated. If you put your hand like this, "He demonstrated,
"And fling the sword out wide? "He did so,
"You can see that the scabbard moves enough to get your blade out by some force, just always swing away from yourself."

Morten interjected with a question,
" isn't it better to just use a long blade or dagger if you have one? "

Agnus leaned on his sword,
