Chapter 16: Just friends

(NEXT DAY.. BRILLIANT HIGH)

Patricia twisted her lips one said as she stared coldly at the guy before her. The fact that this guy act like weak is what piss her off the most. Why did the teacher decided to join her with him. She feel like going crazy any moment.

"Patri..."

"Shh" She cut him off and he went mute. "I'd like to give rules before we can work together. First, I want you to know the fact that I hate you. Second, keep your distance away from me and lastly do the assignment yourself" She said.

"What! But we are asked to work together.. you heard what the teacher said..." Daniel said.

"Work together.. tssk.. do you really think I'd work with you. I can't even stand a minute around you. You disgust me!" She spat.

"Do you have to be so mean?" Daniel asked.

"What did you just say?" Patricia asked, surprised to see the upset look on his face.

"I still don't get what I've ever done to you. You always call me mean names. I'm a human who have feelings and I wanna let you know that your word is like a needle piercing my heart in viscious way. You know what.. fine... You don't wanna do the assignment then we are both going to fail!.. and I don't care.. keep your bitch ass roaming about!" Daniel yelled and walked pass her.

Patrick stood frozen, his word repeated in her head. "What was that?" She muttered.

Getting out of the place, Daniel spot Annabelle.

"Nice job" She said.

"Do you think that would work? I said pretty a lot of things back there" He said.

"One thing I know about Patricia is her pride. She loves using people as a stepping stone. She'll come back to you in order to do the assignment. She wouldn't want to fail" Annabelle said calmly.

Daniel exhaled lightly. "I kinda feel relieved saying those words. It like an heavy load been lifted off my shoulder.. thanks"

Annabelle only smiled a little.

"Wow, that would be the first time I'll see you smile. It's pretty" he said adjusting his glasses, her smile disappeared instantly.

"Anna!" A voice discontinued their discussion.

Ethan walked towards, his eyes on Annabelle.

"I'll be leaving" Daniel said and left.

"Hey" he greeted but didn't get a reply from her in return. "I've been looking for you" he said.

"Why?" She asked. Ethan was a bit surprised on how she sound.

"You left without saying goodbye so I was worried.. you okay?" He asked.

"I'm fine" she replied and made to leave. Frowning Ethan hold her back by the hand. She jerk it immediately and glare at him hard.

"I don't mind breaking that arm of yours" She warned and he slowly let her go.

"Did I do something wrong?" He asked but she only stare at him coldly.

"Hey Annabelle" Someone called walking towards them.

Ethan brow curved down. Bastian?

"Hey" Annabelle greeted and he smiled.

"Hey Ethan" he greeted the guy beside him but got a glare in return.

"I've got an idea on the assignment, come with me" he said.

Why is he speaking casually with her? He questioned himself and watch them leave. Bastian look back his with a smirk on his face. 'She look cute though' he recalled his word. Is he making a move on her?

Getting to a distance, Bastian made to touch Annabelle hand.

"Don't" Came a cold warning from her. "I know the reason why you are acting this calm and gentle I'm not fool, and I'd advice you not to cross the line. I might break all your bone and make you cripple for the rest of your life" She threaten.

Bastian laughed lightly at her words. "What a nice threat you have there Annabelle. I guess I'll have to learn from you then"

"Do you have the guts? Not everyone can handle it" she said.

"I can try" he replied.

Annabelle smirked secretly. "Let's do the assignment first"

"I think this point will fit in. It explain ls how the solar system works. The sun is fifty thousand times bigger than the earth.. wow! This is unbelievable!" Jennifer exclaimed but the guy before her didn't say anything. He had been like this since they started.

"Wanna tell me what's going on?" She asked, snapping him out if his trance.

"Huh? Nothing, I just feel a little bit tired that's all. You know I slept late last night because of your visit" He said. Wait! Is Annabelle upset because of what she saw. That can't be, right?

"Oh, I'm so sorry about that. I guess I won't come tonight then" she said.

Ethan raised his brow. She was planning to do the same tonight?

"Actually we can do this during the day and not during the night" he said and her face dropped.

"Okay" She said sadly. "But thanks for last night though, I got to lean on a shoulder and it was amazing"

"Sure, we are friends after all" he said stretching to hold her hand. Jennifer smile return by his action.

"Awwn" A voice interrupt them. They look up and found Selene and Liam staring at them.

"This is really cute" Selene squealed.

"Ah, it's not what you think" Ethan said.

"Are you guys together?" Liam asked. He was slowly breaking inside.

"Of course not stupid. How can I and Jennifer be together? We are just friends" Ethan said, it was Jennifer's turn to be hurt.

"Do you think she feels the same way?" Selene asked and they all turn their gaze to Jennifer who went silent. It took every nerves in her not to say what she had in mind. Liam noticed.

"C'mon Ethan, we've got practice" Liam broke the silence. Jennifer breath out in relief.

As soon as they both leave, Selene turn to look at Jennifer.

"What did you think you are doing!" Jennifer snap at her.

"What is right... When are you going to tell him huh? Until some bitch ass lady comes from no where and snatch him right on your face?" She asked.

"I will tell him when the time is right. You made things awkward between us" Jennifer sighed.

"Look.. I'm sure Ethan feels the same way. You're the only girl he let into his room and judging by the way he treats you, I think he likes you too"

Jennifer bite down her lips. "Is that so"

On their way to the court Ethan spot Annabelle talking with Bastian before they part the ways.

"I never thought they would get along with each other. That's surprising" Liam muttered.

"Let's go" Ethan said heading to the court.

At night, Ethan got into his room after dinner, expecting Annabelle to show up but she didn't.

"Fuck, this is driving me crazy" he mumbled and decided to wait for her. There's no way he can reach her talkless of talking to her.

His mind drifted to last night, her laughter. The scene played in his head as his lips stretched into a smile. He wish to hear that sound again.

"Where are you" he muttered staying by the window.
