Foreword

Hi 👋🏼

First off, trigger warning. I don't know how much of what will trigger whom, but I suggest you don't read it if you think you'll be triggered by mentions of depression, possible suicide attempts, panic attacks, etc. I won't mention it at the start of the chapter because I want to keep the suspense. (Wow that sounded more selfish than I expected.)

The main two characters, Piper McLean and Kiara Morrigan:
As you can see, I have started writing a new fanfic and I am genuinely in love with it. Piper is one of my favorite characters from HoO and ToA and I've been in love with her since I discovered I was omnisexual.

As for Kiara, I literally Googled 'names that mean shadow' or something like that. Apparently, Kiara means 'light' or 'bright' in Italian, but it is also a variation of the Irish name 'Ciara' which means 'dark' or 'black'. As for her last name, Morrigan, Morrigan is Pagan Ireland's (or Celtic) most famous and notorious goddesses. She was the goddess of war, witchcraft, death, protection, and retribution. Her name translates to 'phantom queen' or 'great queen'. I didn't know that when I decided Kiara's last name would be Morrigan, but I think the two names fit well together.

All you need to know about Kiara is that she if much like Nico more than Hazel, despite being a daughter of Pluto like Hazel is. Kiara is afraid of the ghosts of her past, and she can't do anything about it since ghosts are part of her powers. She despises Pluto, but likes him at the same time. She is confused and scared about her feelings and emotions. She doesn't open up to anyone in fear that they might reject her, no matter how close she is with said person or people.

I spent two weeks writing the first 40 chapters in advance, and in the process, fell in love with Kiara as well. I just love how she is always the third wheel, the one who is always looked over. I relate to her, and maybe that's why I like her so much. I hope all of you wonderful readers will grow to like her like I did.

Kiara's relationship with the 7 + Nico (excluding Piper):
While writing TLH, I started thinking it would be nice if Kiara and Leo became good friends. Kiara would be the only girl Leo wouldn't hit on, and just see her as a friend. And, (this was written before I decided on anything solid for the story), maybe Leo will be the first person to figure out that Kiara is lesbian.

Kiara and Nico would get along well, since they are both gay and over-looked children of Hades/Pluto. I feel like they would understand each other on a level others couldn't.

Of course, we can't forget Hazel. Hazel and Kiara would definitely have a strong sisterly relationship. And they are both Roman and daughters of Pluto, so they can, I don't know, I guess they understand each other.

Jason. Before writing HoH, I always thought Kiara would be outed by Cupid alongside Nico, so Jason would know both of them are gay and all that. That way, Kiara would feel closer to Jason than she feels close to the rest of the seven, but she would also feel like it was forced upon her.

Annabeth would admire Kiara. How she survived all that loneliness, just as Nico did. She would also admire how intelligent Kiara is. I feel like maybe she would even be jealous of Kiara's hair, though I don't know why.

Percy would be scared of Kiara just as much as he is afraid of Nico from time to time. He trusts her, but doesn't trust her as much as he trusts Nico and Hazel. Kiara doesn't like him much. (Don't get me wrong, I have nothing against Persassy.)

And lastly, Frank. We all know Frank is somewhat terrified of our little grumpy ball of darkness, so I feel like he would be afraid of Kiara as well.
