You could feel the soles of your feet dragging on the cold hardwood floor of Tannyhill. The entire house was deadly quiet except for your occasionally scratchy breathing.

Rafe had left two days ago on a panicked mission of some sorts. You tried to protest his leave by begging him to talk to you, asking for anything. Unsurprisingly, Rafe gave you nothing. He shut the overarching front door abruptly, promising to be back soon.

Two days passed. You lay on the bed with your eyes shut. The sound of your heavy breathing in the silence of the house was the only indication that you were indeed alive. There was still no sign of Rafe. Where the hell was he?

Three days had passed and you were beginning to lose hope that Rafe would return. The worry consumed you and your mind, to the point where you began to think about the possibility that he is no longer alive. Your heartbeat increased and your stomach turned. It was a sickening feeling and you wished it would go away. You just wanted Rafe back.

Four days passed and the stress continued to consume you. Your stomach turned and your heart hammered in your chest. You had started to lose sleep and your appearance had begun to diminish. You couldn't help but wonder when you would see Rafe again and every second that went by without him, made you feel like he was never coming back. You just wanted the pain and worry to stop.

After a week of rafe being missing the pain had continued to consume you. Your stomach churned constantly and your heart fluttered. Sleep was still a distant dream and the exhaustion made you feel like you were living in a fog. You couldn't help but wonder if Rafe was ever coming back. The worry seemed never ending and the pain only grew stronger by the hour. You just wanted to see your love.

You finally hear the clicking of the front door and you are relieved, the worry and stress is slowly beginning to subside.

You sit up on the bed and wait for Rafe to walk into the bedroom. You are hoping that he has a really good explanation for why he left like that, after all, he has no right leaving you by yourself like that.

You hear his footsteps come in the bedroom and your heart does a few flutters as he stands at the foot of the bed. You want to be with him. The two of you together, no more loneliness, no more pain, just the two of you.

Rafe sits down next to you on the bed and he looks away. He looks down at the ground as you stare intently at him, your eyes locked on him. You want him to say something, anything. Just talk to you. But he stays silent.

after minutes of silence you scoff tears flow down your cheeks as you walk out of the room and away from the one person you thought you would spend the rest of your life with. You're heartbroken and upset that he doesn't even have the decency to talk to you, not after leaving you by yourself in the house for a week.

The tears continue to stream down your cheeks as you walk into the kitchen, the heartache and sadness overwhelming you. The loneliness is almost insufferable at this point and all you want is for Rafe to be there, with you. But he's not. You feel as though all the hope has been taken from you and now there's nothing left, nothing at all.

You hear Rafe walk out of the bedroom and you can't help but hope that he's coming after you. You're tired of the loneliness and pain and you want him to try to comfort you somehow, or at least explain what happened. All you want is a little bit of hope that everything is going to be okay.

he reaches for you and pulls you into a hug, You feel his arms wrap around you and you melt into him, the tears flowing down your cheeks as you let your body be embraced by him. You cling to him tightly, as if your very life depends on being in his arms at this moment. You can't believe how much you missed him, despite all your efforts to convince yourself otherwise. You're just so glad he's back.

"what is wrong with you" you say inbetween sobs "why did you leave me like that" He holds you tightly for a few moments longer before speaking.

His voice is tender, like he feels genuinely sorry that he put you through so much pain. "I'm so sorry, baby. I had to leave. There was something I had to take care of. I never meant to leave you for that long I promise, but I had to. I'm here now though."

"but you didnt even text rafe" you say pushing away from the hug as the anger fulls in you " fuck rafe i thought u died"

The sadness on his face is replaced with a bit of annoyance as he realizes that he messed up. You had a right to be angry, and he knows he deserves it. He should have known better than to leave you without any kind of communication.

"I'm sorry, baby. I know I messed up. I should have texted you, but I didn't have the time. I just needed to take care of something, and I needed to do it quickly. I never meant to worry you or leave for so long. I promise."

He reaches for you again, and although you're still mad, it's hard not to let him pull you back into his arms. He smells like cologne and fresh laundry, your favorite smells. Despite the anger, you're getting weak and you let him pull you close.

"you really hurt me rafe" you say tearing up again "i thought i lost you"

The sadness on his face becomes apparent again as he wraps his arms around you, pulling you close. He rubs your back, trying to soothe you as he apologizes.

"I know, baby. I'm sorry. I messed up, I know. I'm here now though, okay? I'm right here.  And I'll make it up to you. I promise."

"dont u ever scare me like that again" you say giving him a quick kiss to his chest. the height difference playing a huge part in it.

"I won't, I promise." He holds you tightly again and your anger slowly evaporates as he comforts you. You missed this. You missed how he held you and took care of you. He was always there when you were feeling low and he would comfort you with his touch. He always knew just the words to say to make you feel better.

you quietly whisper out the soft words "i missed you"

"I missed you too, baby. I missed you so much." He pulls you closer, holding you tightly to his chest, breathing in the smell of your hair. You missed this feeling, the feeling of his strong arms wrapped around you, the feeling of pure safe. He was your rock and you were relieved that he was back, safe and sound.
