Anna's mood had visibly changed. She wasn't being as peppy and loud as she had been just a few minutes ago. I didn't know what it was, but I did notice her eyes were watery as they read something on her phone.

I closed my eyes and shut out any fear of feeling like I was getting involved in something that wasn't my business, before going around the bed to sit beside her, at the edge.

"Darling, please tell me what's wrong," I tried gently, scooping up the first tear that was allowed to stream down her cheek.

"It's..." She closed her eyes. "It's...my dad."

"Your dad?" I questioned. I didn't know too much about her dad, except the few things Claire had told me. "What about him, Anna?"

"He...he's getting married," she squeezed her eyes shut and broke into sobs.

I hugged her to me, letting her tears stain my t-shirt.
