Johnny and I found Dracula laying on the ground in the shade of the trees, his entire body red with burns and his clothes were badly burnt. I laid down beside him and hugged him tightly.

"Ow," he hissed, groaning as I touched his slowly healing burns.

"Sorry," I squeaked, letting him go. "Why did you do that?"

"Do what?" He asked, sitting up.

"Fly after the plane like that in the sun," I said. "You could've died!"

He grabbed my hand in his and looked at me. "Because I love you, and I can't lose you too."

"I love you too!" I sniffed, rubbing my tears off of my cheeks. Dracula pulled me onto his lap and hugged me tightly. I hugged him back, laying my head on his chest. "Yes."

He sat back and looked at me with a raised eyebrow. "What do you mean, yes?"

I sat up and looked him straight in his beautiful blue eyes. "I want you to make me a vampire."

"Are you sure?" He asked, a large smile lighting up his face. I nodded, smiling too.

"So, um, when are we going leave?" Johnny asked awkwardly. "Should I call a cab, or..."

Dracula stood and pulled me up with him, smiling. "We're flying, but I need you to buy me something for Mavis first."

After a quick trip into town we returned to Dracula's little shaded spot. I was enjoying my last few pain free moments in the sun, skipping happily down the street with Mavis' birthday present- a large pink travelling backpack just like Johnny's.

Murray and Frank had picked up our bags for us when we landed again and had already taken our things back to the hotel so Dracula had a lighter load.

"Are you ready to go?" I asked Dracula while Johnny strapped himself into the backpack.

"As ready as I'll ever be," he said, staring up at the sun. He shifted into his bat form and Johnny grabbed me and strapped me against him while Dracula grabbed the top of Mavis's gift.

We flew over the town, Dracula flying as fast as he could. The hotel loomed into view and Dracula charged at Mavis' bedroom window. He shifted just as we reached it and we crashed through, smashing into one of Mavis' dressers. Dracula groaned in pain but I couldn't move because I was still tied to Johnny.

"Dad? Are you alright?"

"Yes, I'm just a little sunburned, that's all," Dracula said, the pain easy to read in his voice.

They talked quietly for a couple of minutes before Dracula finally picked up her bag. Johnny untied me before it was turned around so only he was on it.

"You?" Mavis asked in surprise as Johnny stepped down, the backpack still strapped onto his shoulders.

"You," Johnny smiled.

"Why did you come back?" She wondered, staring at him.

"Because you're my zing Mavis," Johnny said while rolling his eyes like it was the most obvious thing ever.

"I thought you said that you hated monsters," Mavis countered, raising an eyebrow.

"Yeah, I had to say that. I was afraid that your dad would've sucked all of the blood out of my body if I didn't."

"Dad," Mavis groaned. "Seriously."

"I just wasn't ready to see you move on," Dracula said, covering for himself. "But now you're together, and that's all that matters."

Johnny stepped towards Mavis, a big smile on his face. "So, can we try that kiss again?"

"I think we can," she replied flirtatiously, stepping closer to him.

"Come on," I said, grabbing Dracula's arm. I dragged him out of the room before he could freak out over them kissing again.

We walked hand in hand around the hotel, heading slowly towards Dracula's bedroom. We finally got to his door. He stopped me before I could go in, laying a hand on my shoulder.

"Are you sure you want to be a vampire?" Dracula asked me. I rolled my eyes. I was nervous, but I was sure that I wanted to be a vampire.

"Yes, I'm sure," I said. I pushed past him into his room and he followed me. He guided me over to his coffin and I sat down on the lid beside him.

I pulled my T-shirt over so that my shoulder was clear for him to bite. He grabbed my hand and lowered his face towards my shoulder.

"Are you ready?" Drac asked, looking at me for permission.

I nodded, and he pressed his lips softly against my skin. Then, without warning, he sank his fangs into my skin. He pulled me tight against him as I screamed before I could try to get away. My mind clouded a bit as I continued to scream, my entire body tense. The pain deepened, and my body couldn't take it anymore. I went limp and everything went black.

"Rachel? Rachel?"

A warm hand was on my shoulder, shaking me softly. I moaned and opened my hands, blinking. Dracula was leaning above me, his hand on my bitten shoulder.

"Did it work?" I asked groggily, sitting up. He shrugged.

"The only way to find out right away is to go outside," Dracula said. I got up, and he stood up with me, holding my arm softly.

"Ok, lets go," I said.

Dracula led me down to the main lobby. I could feel my heart hammering in my chest. I was worried that it didn't work because I still felt the same.

We arrived at the front door and the sun was still fairly high in the sky. I had never been so afraid to go outside in my life. I dropped Drac's hand and stepped up to the door. I took a deep breath and pushed all the way through, standing in the sun.

Everything was fine for the first thirty seconds. Then my skin started burning, my body was smoking, and Dracula was pulling me back inside.

"Owowowow, owwww!" I moaned, crumpling to the floor. But I was smiling at the same time. I was a vampire. My skin healed quickly as I had only been out there for a short amount of time. A sore feeling came from my mouth and I spit out my two canines. I ran my tongue along the spot and felt two sharp fangs in their place. I smiled at Dracula and his eyes widened happily.

"It worked!" Dracula cheered, pulling me up and hugging me. I laughed and hugged him back. He pulled back a bit, staring at me. He leaned in slowly and pressed his lips against mine. I returned the pressure hungrily, wrapping my arms around his neck.

I'm a vampire now, and I don't regret it at all.
