Jade

I woke up the next day to the sound of the front door slamming and nearly giving me a heart attack. I barely had any sleep last night from the amount of pain in my leg and the fear that consumed me.

I was still pretty shaken up about what happened to me and what I saw last night. Those piercing eyes and devilish growls haven't left my thoughts and I doubt they will anytime soon.

Getting up from the bed, I carefully walk to the bathroom, not wanting to put too much pressure on my leg at first. I already knew that Nate was the one who had slammed the front door. He was practically gone all night.

After washing my face and brushing my teeth I put on some clothes that Maya left on the vanity for me last night, since mine were garbage now.

After looking at myself one last time in the mirror whilst brushing my medium length brown hair, I headed downstairs to see what was wrong with Nate.

"Goodmorn-"

"We need to leave, now." Nate said, rudely interrupting my greeting.

"Why, what happened?" I questioned while walking to the fridge. Before Nate could answer my question, Katrina and Maya both entered the kitchen and sit on the bar stools of the granite island.

"Good, you both are up. We need to start leaving now. Don't ask questions just move!" Nate barked.

We all remained in our positions confused while blankly looking at Nate. I poured myself a glass of orange juice and popped a waffle in the toaster.

"Jade, did you not just hear what I said? We need to leave now!" Nate yelled, crossing his arms across his chest.

"What? Can't I just eat something real quick? I'm starving."

"Look, it's not safe here." Nate finally said, catching our attention.

"Uh how aren't we safe? My cabin isn't dangerous." Maya argues. I mean, she's right its always been safe here, but after what happened last night, I can't say it is anymore.

"Besides what happened to you Jade, I still can't believe you got attacked. Nothing like that has ever happened before but I know it's safe here," Maya said to me with sympathy.

Nate let out an exasperated sigh and trailed his hand down his face in frustration. "Fine, just can we at least leave after you all-" A loud knock at the door interrupted Nate mid sentence.

"Dammit" Nate said under his breath.

"Who the hell could that be; is your brother in town Maya?" Katrina said with a big grin on her face. I was actually hoping the same thing honestly. Maya's older brother is a beautiful sight.

"I'll get it," Nate said, walking to the door as worry took over him.

Maybe this is why he was in such a hurry to leave? If so then shouldn't we sneak out through the back and avoid whoever that is? Questions started filling my head.

"Finally, I was beginning to think you weren't going to let me in," the man at the door said with a piercing smirk, walking through the doorway. Nate grabbed a hold of his arm before he could walk any further inside and brought his face to the mans ear, whispering something.

He was a lengthy guy with short, chopped brown hair and deep blue eyes. He also had a stubbily beard which suited his face perfectly.

I can feel the tension brewing as the man freed himself from Nate's grasp and reached the kitchen with a grinned look on his face. "Well hello there ladies."
