I woke up facing my ceiling fan, all hot and sweaty. Why hasn't my mom turned on the air conditioning yet? I sighed getting up, heading to the bathroom to get ready for school. I wish spring break was longer, just the thought of going back to school made me nauseous.

Though I have my license, I have yet to acquire a car for myself. Taking the bus is my only option unless I wanna wake up early and have my mom drop me off before she goes to work. No thanks.

When I got to school, I went to my locker and prayed that I wouldn't be noticed. But, life doesn't work that way. When I turned around, there they were; Jax, Austin, and Trent.

"Hey queer," Jax said as he slammed me against the lockers. "You're back from spring break? I thought you would've killed yourself by now. Hm, what a shame." I glared, not at Jax, but at Trent as they all laughed. Although, Trent's laugh was fake. I missed his real laugh.

Jax gave me one more shove before they walked away. I took a breath before shutting my locker and heading into my first period class. I sat all the way in the back and laid my head down. A buzz from my phone made me tense up. I pulled it out from my pocket and changed it to silent before checking who texted me.

P
Today 7:26AM

P: meet me there at break?

I stared at it for what felt like an hour, thinking if I should really go.

I'll think about it.

P: Well, I'll be there
if you come or not.

I sighed and put my phone away. Class finally started, but I didn't care to pay attention. I was too focused on what would happen if I go. But I already knew what would happen. Which is why I'm contemplating going.

After first period, I met my friend, Ethan. He was hanging up posters all around the walls.
I grabbed one of the papers from him and read it. "A mural in the lunchroom?"

"Yeah, the principal wants to 'brighten things up a bit' and wants someone to paint a mural in the cafeteria. You just have to paint an example of what you would do and have him improve it. And, ya' know, you have to be good at painting. No one wants to look at a shity painting everyday," he explained then he added, "You should do it."

"What?! Hell no," I said handing the flier back to him.

"Come on, Justin, you're one of the best painters at this school. You can even have others help you. You'd work on it after or before school. You'd love it. I know-"

He was cut off as Trent knocked all of the papers out of Ethan's arms. "Hey! What the fuck?" Ethan exclaimed.

Jax slammed him against the lockers, "Watch your fucking mouth, faggot."

The warning bell chimed through the loud speakers and Jax let Ethan go. "See you at lunch," Jax said, but it sounded more like a warning. I stayed by Ethan and helped him gather all of his papers.

"Thanks," he said quietly. "I fucking hate those guys. They think they can mess with people and toss us around like we're nothing. Fucking assholes," he muttered. "Whatever," he shook his head, "I gotta get to class." Ethan said and walked away.

Second and third period went by fast and it was finally fourth period: access. We basically have the whole hour to catch up on work or go ask teachers for help. If you ask me, it's a complete waste of time. Most kids just use the time to mess around. Me included.
