On The Dance Floor

Heart to heart

"Hey..." I hear Ryders voice behind me. 

"Why are you awake?" I ask. 

"I needed to go to the bathroom, What about you?" He asks. 

"I can't sleep" I shrug.

I was curled up on the living room wrapped in a blanket watching stranger things. 

Ryder sat next to me "Why not?" 

"My stomach is going crazy" I explain. 

"Because of the competition?" Ryder asks. 

No. 

"Yeah" I nod. 

"Lies" He chuckles. 

I sigh "You know me too well" 

I grab my phone and show him the text messages from Will. 

He really was upset. 

"Why aren't you responding?" Ryder asks. 

"Because I'm afraid" 

"Of what?" 

"Of falling in love..." 

Ryder sighs and wraps an arm around me. 

"You know after Marissa I was heartbroken, But then I met Paige, And she is just...The best thing that's ever happened to me, and sure, we started dating in high school, but I don't think it matters, Because we love each other. And remember how terrified I was to ask her out? But that one thing that terrified me changed my life, so I guess what I'm trying to say is...the scariest thing can be the best thing" 

I furrow my eyebrows "Who are you can what have you done with my brother?" 

He chuckles "I have no idea" 

I shake my head "I have to spend the whole weekend with him now too" 

"You'll live, I promise, you leave in a day too! You should be excited" He smiles. 

"Is Paige my supervisor?" I ask. 

"Yeah...Dad is busy at work and I have to stay and help around here...I'm sorry" He says. 

I shake my head "It's fine, Paige is my favorite anyway" 

"Hey!" 

"Okay second favorite" 

"Thank you" 

"To Darren" 

Ryder rolls his eyes "Jerk" 

I kiss his cheek "Love you too big brother" 

He hugs me and we end up falling asleep watching stranger things.

I end my solo in my pose and Mrs. Hanna claps. 

"Absolutely breathtaking!" She smiles. 

"Thank you" I smile.

"You can head out and grab a drink, we are going to run the group dance next" 

I nod, walking out of studio A. 

Will was the only other person in there. 

"Hey..." He whispers as I take a sip of my water.

"Hi" I say. 

"You weren't supposed to- never mind"  He states. 

"I wasn't supposed to hear that?" I ask. 

"yeah" He gulps.

"Okay then" I giggle "Are you ready for Florida?" 

"I guess" He shrugs. 

I go and sit by him "What do you mean you guess?" 

"Listen Princess I-" He cuts himself off, realizing I'm now right next to him.

"What?" I ask.

We are inches apart. 

And next thing I know Wills lips are on mine. 

It takes me a moment to realize what was happening but I kiss back.

When we pull apart for air our eyes widen. 

"What just-" 

"Did we just-"

"I just kissed you" Will says. 

"Yeah" I nod. 

"And that's just-" 

"Different"

"But I'm dating-"

"Nichole" 

"Huh" We sigh. 

Mrs. Hanna exits studio A. 

"Ava we need to run the group, William shouldn't you be in studio C?" Mrs. Hanna asks. 

"Yes, I needed a minute to clear my head" Will says, standing up. 

"Okay, Ava lets go" Mrs. Hanna says, disappearing into the studio. 

"We'll just..." I drift off. 

"Yeah" Will nods. 

"Okay" 

"Cool" 

And with that we go our separate ways.

I walk into group rehearsal with a stupid grin on my face, taking my starting position. 

As we start dancing I can feel the energy in the group. 

This weekend was going to go great.
