Nicolette's POV:

It was time to take my medications yet again.

"Why do these look different than usual?" I asked.

"I think they changed your medications honey," said the nurse.

"Why?"

"I'm not sure, I'm not the doctor who changed them."

I shrugged and swallowed the new pills.

Afterwards, I went straight to bed. I felt so tired.

I woke up the next morning. For some reason, I felt different. My mind felt weird. I felt very underwhelmed with my thoughts.

A week goes by.

"So, have you seen Maude lately?" asked the therapist.

"No, actually, I haven't. I wonder where she went."

"Nicolette, Maude was just a figment of your imagination. You have been diagnosed with schizophrenia. It seems like your new medications have really improved your mental state."

I couldn't believe what I was hearing, "so you're saying I'm crazy?"

"No, I'm not saying that at all. You were sick but your medicine is making you better. You're going home today."

"Home?"

"Yes, aren't you happy?"

"I get to go home," I whispered.

I went to my room and packed up my things.

"So, I guess this is goodbye," said Candace.

"Yeah, I guess it is. I'll miss you."

"We can hang out sometime once I'm out of here," she suggested.

"When do you get out?" I asked.

"I'm supposed to be released next week as long as I don't try to kill myself again in here."

I chuckled, "well don't kill yourself, alright? I'd like to see you again on the outside."

"Definitely," she said and she gave me a tight hug.

I waited for my mom to arrive so that they could discharge me.

I'm finally going home.
