17. Ukai - coach ♡

♡ - just for the information (y/n) is 30 and ukai is 32 years old

it had been a couple years since you divorced with your previous husband and no one was willing to help you except for your long time friend ukai

you were only 29 when you divorced and after a year of trying to get back into a good mental state you recontacted him since he was the only person willing to stay by your side

"WE DID IT!" ukai stood up cheering next to you as hinata spiked the last point

you were helping out as a coach at karasuno as a second volleyball coach, it was a good opportunity since you wouldn't stay at home all day, plus you were a really good player back in the day.

the karasuno boys ran towards us and got into a group hug, nishinoya was jumping like a cheerful Easter bunny while the others pat each others back as a 'good job'

"you did amazing boys!" you exclaimed looking at everyone standing in the semi circle

"it was thanks to your techniques (y/n) sensei! i'm grateful to have you as a coach along with ukai sensei" hinata looked at you with the brightest face which was so contagious it made your face light up even more

"thank you coach (y/n) !" all the boys said in sync bowing down in front of you, not to be dramatic but you could feel your eyes watering a little bit

"look at that! the kids love you!" ukai smiled at you with a grin on his face

"i'm grateful as well to be the coach of such an amazing team" you told the boys

"well how about we go celebrate with some ramen, it's all on me!" ukai announced following by more cheers coming from the boys

everyone got back on the team bus, you sat next to ukai which was at the very front of the bus keeping some distance between the teenagers, takeda taking the wheel and starting up the engine after everyone settled down

"hey (y/n), thank you" ukai grabbed your hand which made you shocked for a second at the sudden action, you looked up at him not realizing that your heart was beating and you were blushing already

"you really helped a lot in the past year" he smiled at you

you felt this certain exciting emotion when he looked deeply in your eyes, you started back into his as the pretty colors from the sunset behind him shone around him

"i should be the one thanking you keishin" you looked down at both you hands being intertwined and smiling

"you helped me so much, i wouldn't even know if i can ever repay you back" you continued

"don't worry about that" he tightened the grip on your hand, using his other hand placing it on the top of your head slightly ruffling it

"i'll always be here"

that's when it hit you, you really had built up your feeling for him recently this year, you blushed more the certain feeling making you feel like a young 17 year old girl falling in love

"thank you so much keishin" you replied and without thinking about it you leaned your head against his shoulder and closed your eyes by the sudden tiredness taking over you

ukai was quick to turn his head and nearly jump out of his seat but somehow he tried to remain calm and looked at your peaceful sleeping face making a tint of red rise up to his cheeks

"oi oi, is coach blushing?" tanaka popped up with a mocking tone to piss him off

"shut up tanaka or i'll make you do 20 more push ups than everyone at tomorrow's practice!" ukai yelled back, daichi then slapped tanaka's head infuriated scolding him

"tanaka just be quiet!"

you could still hear the conversation but pretended to sleep you kept in your laugh at tanaka's comment

the bus finally came to a stop and ukai woke you up

"oh my god finally i thought i would die of starvation!" nishinoya exclaimed

the food was finally brought out on the table and without wasting another second the boys were stuffing food in their mouth, hinata and kageyama were competing on who could eat the fastest, tanaka and nishinoya were also eating fast but they were making sure to taste every flavor carefully basically having flowers in their eyes, daichi and sugawara were feeding each other because god even knows why leaving tsukishima and yamaguchi eating like normal people.

ukai sat next to you with his pink cheeks from drinking alcohol

"well how is the food (y/n)?" ukai wrapped an arm around you holding your waist

"aren't you a little drunk keishin?" you smiled trying to make him realize what he was doing

"oh-uhm yeah i mean i'm fine" he took the hint and took his hand off you, even when he is drunk he is quick to realize if he did something wrong, you kind of find it cute and a little attractive oddly, not like your ex-husband....

everyone were moving on to the dessert but you were already full enough

"wanna join me for a smoke (y/n)?" ukai asked you

"oh, i don't smoke but i'll come along to get some fresh air" you replied

getting out from the closed space filled with the smell of fry and seafood felt nice and refreshing to you

ukai took out his cigarettes and lighter

"you still smoke huh, it's bad for you keishin" you told him looking as he too out his cigars

"well... you're right, besides i actually wanted to talk" he looked at the small box in his hand shoved it back in the pocket of his jacket looking up at you

"i-" ukai started but paused trying to find the right words

"you know (y/n) it's been really hard trying to keep my eyes off you this past year" he spoke, you tilted your head but you could feel what he was getting at

"i know it's only been 2 years since you divorced with that scumbag..."ukai continued, you giggled a little at his protective manner over you

"man i feel like a teenager saying this but, i-I've always loved you (y/n) and i really don't know any other way to say it then just being straight forward with you, i mean i'm not even sure if i should said that since you might still be going through that-" he was paused by the warmth being wrapped around him

you embraced him in a hug burying your face in the crook of his neck, he took a while to look at you and hug you back

"I've liked you too for a while now" your eyes were a bit watery

"i'm happy to hear that" he felt less tense

"how long did you feel this way?" you quietly sobbed

"uhm, since... before you got together with your ex-husband" he spoke nervously, you loked at him with a tear sliding down your cheek

"keishin...." you quietly spoke looking into his eyes

he cupped your face with his hands

"i'm here" he smiled at your sobbing face and red nose, he pulled you back in the hug
