"Hey, Gerard, wait," Mrs. Smith rushed as he was packing up to leave his seventh period. "Can you stay after for a minute?"

Gerard hesitantly slowed his actions, but smiled before nodding. "Um, yeah, of course."

"Thank you so much," She said, moving over to help other students clean up.

Once everyone else had left, Gerard lingered behind, waiting curiously for his teacher.

"Hey, what's up?" He asked, clutching his binder to his chest.

"What's your third period?" She asked. 

"English," Gerard answered, eyebrows slightly knitting in confusion.

"Perfect," She breathed out. "You don't have any tests or anything going on, do you?"

"Not that I know of."

"Awesome," She smiled. "Do you think you could come help me out during third period on Friday? I'm going to need some help on a lesson for Juniors, and I figured since you're my best student, I'd ask you first."

"Oh!" Gerard smiled -- highly honored that he was thought of as her best student. "Yeah, of course."

"Thank you so much," She breathed out with relief. "I'll give you extra credit for it."

"Thank you." Gerard returned, smiling politely.

"Okay, okay, now that we've gotten that settled..." She murmured with a smile, rushing to her desk and scribbling onto a notepad. "You're free to go, Gerard. Have a lovely afternoon!"

"You too!" He replied, leaving the classroom with a small smile.
