The hallways of Arkham seemed endless as I made my way to the High Security Ward. The clicking of my heels diminishing the sounds of patients and clinicians bustling about to distant, echoey whispers.

I trekked further and further along until I knew I was near my destination. I realized this because of one small, terrifying detail...it was completely silent here.

The hallways were darker, older. Decades of dust and debris cluttered the half-dilapidated corridors. It smelled of death and depression. This part of the building felt colder too, frozen in solitude.

I knew Arkham was no happy place, but this was beyond dark

I knew Arkham was no happy place, but this was beyond dark. This was a different level hell.

But I pressed on further until I reach a pair of large double doors secured by a keycard scanner and a couple of security guards. I showed them my badge and scanned in.

Here went nothing. And everything.

My breath stopped and my heart shuddered as I passed through the threshold.

What I saw before me was overwhelming. A huge chamber that went several stories below and above where I currently stood. It was in an open, rectangular shape with cells lining the perimeters accessible only by narrow staircases catwalks. I felt like I had just stepped into another world, the darkness of the room engulfing me.

I was shaking.

I quickly steadied myself, straightened out my jacket and adjusted the papers on my clipboard. I had to remind myself that these...people...were locked up and they wouldn't hurt me. They couldn't.

I got with a couple of security guards and let them know that I had an appointment with Jonathan Crane and that he needed to be brought into a private room.

And then I waited.

I surveyed the meeting room, checking for cameras or listening devices. I noticed a camera in one of the upper corners of the space near the ceiling.
