Life

I watched.

I sat in the window

Resting my forehead against the cold glass pane.

And I watched.

The plants.

The trees.

The people.

And so much more.

Plants grew

lived and withered away.

Trees grew

lived and was cut down.

People grew up

lived got children grandchildren and died.

Now if you ask me what I watched

I will say a lot of things

And go on listing what I watched.

But if you asked me what I saw

Through the misty glass pane

I will answer

Life.

For that is what it was.

That is what it is.

That is what it will always be.

And that misty glass pane?

That is eternity.

And endless bottomless void

Of life and dead.
