HAPPY HOLIDAYS MUNCHKINS!

Mila's POV

Munching on celery and peanut butter, I stared at the papers in front of me.

This was what I dreamed of.

Opening my own dance studio.

I had been trying for almost a year and a half now, but some obstacle or another came in my way.

Madame Catherine was retiring and was over the moon when I asked if I could take over for her. I taught the junior levels with her 5 days a week. It was my full time job that took up most of my day. Whilst Ajax was at his office, I was in the studio. An odd dynamic really, considering everyone thought we would open a dance studio together.

But Ajax had other interests, and I respected that. We still taught classes together in his free time, and those were always my favorite days.

I had finally found a place close to our house and Ajax's work place.

The only problem? It called for a $8,000 downpayment to secure the building. I didn't want to rent a building because I knew this was something I wanted to do long term.

I glanced at the clock above the doorway, sighing when I noticed it was already 9:45.

My face felt hot, a sticky feeling coating my skin. An uneasy feeling churned my stomach as I drank a glass of cold water.

Grabbing my phone, I dialed Ajax's number.

"Hello, sorry I'm unable to take your call. Please leave a message and I'll get back to you as soon as possible."

"Hey, it's already a quarter to 10 and you're not home yet. I'm keeping food out on the kitchen counter. Make sure you put it back in the fridge when you're done eating. I have to get up early tomorrow, so I'll be gone by 6:30. I love you, goodnight."

I sighed, setting my phone down on the cool granite counter. My gaze landed on the ring that glittered on my left hand.

Ajax was working overtime the past few weeks. He always had an interest in business and finally got his degree after months of talking about it.

He was thinking about starting his own business when I had told him about the dance studio. He immediately agreed to help out and now it was a goal for both of us.

But of course, as usual, something had to interrupt. Ajax was promoted to vice president last month and now his full attention was on work.

He would come home when I was already asleep and leave before I woke up.

Don't get me wrong, I was incredibly proud and happy for him.

But a part of me felt like his promotion had more cons than pros.

For the longest time we did everything together. Ajax and I spent almost every hour of every day together for the past 4 years.

When we got married, it felt like we got even closer, which almost seemed impossible at this point.

Now only spending an hour with him felt like the world was falling apart.

An odd feeling of loneliness tugged at my heart as I stared at the empty living room, tears pricking at my eyes.
