~Espresso POV~

Nothing happened last night.

Nothing at all.

I helped Madeleine get to the room, he went to sleep then I fell asleep.

Yup, that's how the story went...

But, I can't keep my mind off of his soft blue eyes…

I slap my face lightly, which causes some people to look at me in the hall.

No. Nothing happened.

Nothing happened, nothing happened, nothing happened….

I just repeat that sentence in head until I finally reach classroom.

I sit down at my usual seat and take out my textbook and laptop like normal.

Because today is normal. Like every other day.

Latte sit down next to me.

     "Good morning!" She greets me.

      "Nothing happened!" I blurt out.

She looks at me like I'm crazy.

Not going to lie, I probably am going crazy.

"Um, good morning." I say, acting like my last sentence was nonexistent.

"Damn, you're out of it, what happened?" She asks while getting out her things.

     "Nothing! Nothing!" I quickly say.

"You know, you were always a terrible liar." She giggles.

"I'm serious though. Nothing crazy really happened." I lied.

"That hickey on your neck says otherwise." Latte points at my neck

HUH?!

I try to look down at my neck, but that's impossible.

I believe Latte though.

STUPID MADELEINE! WHY'LD HE HAVE TO KISS MY NECK?!

"Here," she digs through her bag once more. "Use my foundation."

     "Thanks." I take it.

Latte's skin tone is a bit lighter than mine, so the foundation didn't completely match my skin color, but it was good enough.

I look back up to give Latte her foundation back.

A smug grin is spread around her face.

Oh no. I know what's coming.

"So, who's the lucky guy?" She asks excitingly.

"None of your business." I stuff the foundation in Latte's hand.

"C'monnnn! I gave you my foundation, you give me an answer in return!"

"Just some guy, okay?" I say, hoping that answer will satisfy her.

It didn't, of course.

"Well, yeah I know it was 'some guy', but who?"

"You don't know him." I lie.

     "Was it Herb? Licorice? Madeleine?"

I flinch at the last name.

Latte instantly does an long excited gasp.

Fuck, I really am a bad liar.

"Ohmygodohmygodohmygod!" Latte whisper-yells. "I knew guys were perfect for each other! I knew it!!"

"No we're not!" I whisper back. "He was drunk, alright? He can't remember shit. What happened... was a mistake."

"Wait, so did he kiss you? Ooor the other way around?" She asks.

"Well, he made the first move obviously." I reply.

     "And you kissed him back?"

     "This is too many questions."

"Fineee, if you don't want to talk about it you don't have to." Latte opens her laptop.

Our professor starts our lesson.

The school day ends and I go back to my dorm.

I feel hesitant to open the door knowing Madeleine's in there...

I need to relax. He doesn't know what happened... I'm fine... completely fine.

I open the door I see Madeleine, in his regular clothes, holding a cup of coffee.

His head perks up as he sees me walk in.

"Hey, Espresso! Have a good day?" He asks.

"Yup." I put down my bag.

I notice that all the coffee from the coffee pot was gone.

"Damn, how much coffee did you drink?" I ask.

"Ah, well, I'm trying to sober up, see if I can remember what happened." Madeleine replies.

I freeze.

What.

"W-why do you want to know so bad? All we did was tell stories-" I try to excuse.

"That was a lie, wasn't it?"

Madeleine doesn't look mad. In fact, he's still smiling.

I guess he just really wants to know...

"Okay, yeah. It was," I admit. "But, why do you want to know so bad?"

"I dunno, you just make it seem like a big deal, so maybe it is." He shrugs.

     "Just, stop worrying about it."

"I will once you tell me."

I stare at him with an annoyed, yet slightly flustered face for a couple seconds.

"How about this," Madeleine sirs down at the edge of his bed. "I'll give you until Homecoming to tell me."

I let out a dramatic sigh.

"C'mon, your gonna have to tell me sooner or later." He chuckles.

Hm. He is right about that.

"Alright," I say, walking to him with my hand out. "Deal."

Madeleine happily shakes my hand.

I feel like I'm going to regret this...
