Chapter 21

When they got to the hospital, Damian could see the twos pale faces.

Twighlite: help! please! She has been attacked.

The first thing Damian saw when they got the hospital was calm and quiet. All of the sudden in a blink of an eye, there were nurses and doctors rushing to Anya's aid.
Twighlite gently placed her on the bed they prepared for her.
The three watched the horrific scene.

Nurse: she is losing blood.
Doctor: start by stopping the bleeding.

The nurse looked at them.

Nurse: excuse me could you please go wait in the waiting room while we work on her?

The nurse shooed them out and closed the curtain.

Twighlite: we will be going now.
Thorn princess: don't worry, we will be calling her parents.

The two agents left the building.
(they just went home and changed)
A few minutes later, Anya's frantic parents came in.

Loid: where is she?
Damian: they are still working on her.
Yor: how long did they estimate the wait to be?
Damian: I am not sure... She did look pretty... Bad.

Yor broke down in tears. Her patient husband told her to take a seat.

Loid: it's okay Yor. She is in good hands...

Damian: I couldn't protect her... I couldn't protect her... It's my fault she is here...

Damian teared up with tears of frustration.

His phone rang.

Damian: Hello...
Butler: greeting Master Damian.
Damian: what do you want...
Butler: your father is wondering where are you?
Damian: I am at the hospital...
Butler: why? Are you hurt?
Damian: no! My partner is hurt idiot!
Butler: Oh, is Ms. Amy okay?
Damian: it's not Amy it's Anya!
Butler: you know your father won't be too happy to know that you are still with Ms. Forger?
Damian: and did you know that if you told anything to my father and didn't stop asking stupid questions I WILL get you fired...
Butler: ....
Damian: that is what I thought...

He hung up immediately.
2 hours later, they moved Anya to a hospital room.
Loid stood up.

Loid: can we see her?
Nurse: I presume you are her father. No not quite yet...
Loid: oh... can you tell us when you are done?
Nurse: we will notify you as soon as possible.

A few more hours later, it was already 1:00am.
A doctor came up to them.
Damian immediately stood up.

Doctor: are you her family?
Damian: yes, how is she?
Doctor: she is okay right now. But she is in a coma. She did lose a lot of blood...
Damian: can we see her?
Doctor: yes you may.

Damian turned his head and gave Lod a nod.

Loid: Yor wake up, we can go see Anya now...

Only one was allowed to go inside.
Yor came to her bedside and held her hand

Yor: Anya if you can hear me, you are going to be okay... Just don't stop fighting for me.... and papa... And Damian-San... Okay.

It was her father's turn.

Loid: hey, kiddo... As soon as you get better. I am treating you to peanuts and peanut cake and peanut pancakes...
Remember how I adopted you just for operation strix... Well it backfired because I love the "fake" family I have created... Just get better...

Finally it was Damian's turn...

Damian: I am... Sorry... I am sorry I couldn't protect you... I am sorry you ended up here... If I had just known you were the Nightmare, who protected me, who took a bullet for me.... Get well soon... Stubby.

He kissed her on her forehead and left the room...
