"Rithvik, we are tracking an inbound object to our starboard." Anna said. "Is it one of the alien ships?" I asked, looking around. There was absolutely nothing in this part of the Xandion System except for a planet which was the last planet in this system. "It does not look like a ship. It looks more like a drone." Anna replied. "Erm...Captain. I think I may know what that is." Leo said over the communication system. "What is it?" I asked him. "It is one of ours." He replied. "What do you mean it is one of ours. We never sent out drones to this system, did we?" I asked him. "No. But we did have a robot on board our ship and the whole compartment where the robot was working in was blown off by a missile which struck us as soon as we arrived here." Leo replied. "And it seems like it survived the explosion." He said. "Is it safe to bring him aboard?" I asked him. "Yeah. It is safe to bring him onto the ship." Leo replied. "Alright." I said.

"Konrad, please put on your MMU and get the robot here from dock three." I ordered. "Reneesh, initiate the ship docking procedure and come on over to Orion Four." I said. "Roger that." He replied. Soon, both the ships had docked and Konrad was in the process of bringing the robot to the ship. "What was the use of this robot onboard your ship? And why is this the first time I am hearing anything about a robot?" I asked Leo. "Before the idea of sending humans to confirm the finding, that is, before the Orion Mission, USRA  planned to send in some robots to confirm the finding. Robots can survive without food and do not need much space. It was known as Operation Delta. But soon enough, these robots proved to be highly unreliable and their artificial intelligence failed to act when necessary. The robots could not survive the simulations and the plan was scrapped and humans came into the picture. A robot was sent along with us on Orion Three to help us control the ship, but we never really used it. We never even connected it to our mainframe." Leo replied. "And why was I kept in the dark about it?"  I asked him. "For that, I do not have an answer." He replied.

Soon, Konrad walked into the room followed by a robot behind him. The robot could not be called humanoid. It was far from looking like a human. It had eight rectangular 'legs' which helped it move and I guessed they had many other functions as well. "Meet Dave." Leo said.
