My nose scrunches at the feeling of something feather light brushing against my cheek. I turn my head to get away from whatever it is.

"Levi," My name is called in a lowered voice, drawn out like a ghost impression is being attempted. "I am the ghost of Christmas past."

"It's the middle of June." I point out to the ghost as I roll over on my other side to get away from the feather touch that's still poking at me.

"I am the ghost of Independence Day past,"

I scoff and quickly roll over onto my back. "Independence Day past?" I question, squinting my eyes open to look at Tess. She lays on her stomach right beside me with a quill in her hand. She probably found it on my desk.

"Whooo," Tess murmurs, waving the quill around in my face. She laughs to herself when I turn my head away to scratch my itchy nose. "Why do you have this?" She giggles, inspecting the quill curiously.

"I was really curious about quills and ink when I was a teen."

Tess snorts and reaches over to drop the feather down onto the nightstand beside the bed. "So, I know you just woke up and all, but I've been up for longer and I've been really craving some doughnuts." She offers me an awkward smile.

I groan like I forgot about the doughnuts she wanted. "I just woke up." I reason.

"I know." She laughs apologetically. "I would've gotten them when I woke up, but I didn't want to just steal your car." She reasons.

I smile at her. "You didn't want to get out of bed either, huh?"

Tess tilts her head at me. "Have you been awake this whole time?" She questions, confirming my assumption.

"No, I've been sleeping." I hum. "But I can tell you haven't gone to the bathroom to check the mirror."

More than just a few strands of her hair stick up in places I didn't think were possible with gravity.

"What, my hair?" Tess laughs, apparently already aware of it. "Is it bad?"

I shake my head. "Not at all."

She doesn't look convinced. "Are you lying to me?"

"Never."

Tess still doesn't look convinced. "You're quite the sweet talker, Levi." She murmurs as she begins rolling off the bed. "Quite the cuddler too." She adds with raised brows.

I frown immediately. "Shit, I'm sorry. I tried keeping my distance to give you space—"

"Relax," Tess giggles, watching me as she walks towards the door. "I'm playing with you." She assures.

I let out a quiet breath of relief. "So, I gave you enough space?" I ask. I tried not to roll over towards her, but it's like she has her own fucking atmosphere that I got caught up in.

"Oh, not at all." Tess smiles. "You cuddled me all night." She adds as she tosses the door open and leaves the room.

Well, damnit.

I grin as I chose multiple different doughnuts to fill up the pink box. I pick up almost every type, just happy to be here. For some reason, I haven't visited this doughnut shop since I lived out here.

"Help me pick some." I encourage, elbowing Levi gently beside me.

He smiles. "I can't."

I frown. "Why?"
