Chapter 31

Lucas's Pov
...

Miss Monroe gave me a few supplements and a pamphlet specialised in pregnancy. According to the pamphlet, the second trimester began at about 12 to 13 weeks, and the baby bump developed at around 16 to 17 weeks

So Amika has about 4 weeks till she's in her second trimester...

After about 15 minutes, I noticed that Amika had been gone for quite a long time and 15 minutes would be too long for her to change back into her clothes...

"I'm going to go and check on her," I told the doctor

"Amika...Amika..." I called out

No answer

I looked behind the curtain, but when I was about to take another step, the side of my shoe collided with a softer surface....

A hand.....

I looked down and saw Amika's body lying on the floor, with her face lying on the floor.....

I knelt to the floor, then sat and cradled her lifeless body, her body was starting to get extremely cold

Oh God...

I lifted her body in my arms and went towards the main room....I found Miss Monroe standing, and when she saw Amika, she looked extremely shocked
"Oh my, what happened....." She asked
" I don't know, I found her lying unconscious on the floor..." I said panickingly
"I'm going to call for help....this is not in my field, something else is causing this" she said while using her pager to call for help

Her breath was shallow and her pulse was so faint...
Please God...she has to be fine.....I don't know what I'll do if she isn't

A few nurses walked in with a stretcher and I placed her on the stretcher and held her hand while the nurses started to wheel her away....

When it was time for her to go into the check up room, I couldn't bring myself to let go of her hand....

I didn't want to let go of her again.....

"Sir, you have to let go of her....." a male nurse said
"No....you don't understand....I can't leave her alone...I" I said with tears forming in my eyes

They managed to separate her hand from mine and rolled her into the hospital room....

I just hope she's going to be okay....

4 hours later

After 4 gruesome hours of waiting, the doctor in charge finally came out. I didn't even bother to sit because of how worried I was
"Doctor...how..how is she, is she going to be fine....please doctor, tell me she's going to be alright..."
"Mr Neviera please calm down, then we can converse in a more appropriate manner.."The doctor said
I took a deep breath and tried to calm my nerves
"Well actually it'd be better if we spoke in my office, so please come this way...."

I followed the doctor down the corridor as I spared one last glance at Amika who now had an IV drip connected to her right wrist

We entered a white, very large office that had about 3 hospital rooms of space...I took a seat opposite his
"Well I'm afraid to announce, Mr Neviera, that we have not found the cause of her sudden fainting..."
"What do you mean?"
"Well, her blood sugar and pressure levels were all normal, no chemical substances were traced and we would know if she was rendered unconscious, which appears that she wasn't.."
"What you're trying to say is that you don't know why she's unconscious..." I don't know why but I was starting to get impatient and frustrated
"Yes and we haven't been able to make her conscious again, we managed to stabilise her breathing and even her pulse has gone back to normal, but no sign of her gaining consciousness..."
"Isn't there anything that you can do..."
"Yes but I'm sure you're well aware of her pregnancy.."
"Anything we do, might affect the baby I'm ways that we do not know and we do not want to risk that, so I just advice that you should let nature take it's course..."
"Meaning?"
"Just wait and see when she might get consciousness, for now....she will be under observations for a day from here, then after you can monitor her from home..."
"How long will she be unconscious?"I asked
"Well...since we do not know the cause, it is difficult to determine when she might wake up, I'd say about a week or two at the least..."
"Bu-, Thank You doctor..." I forcefully thanked him
"It is my pleasure, now if you'll excuse me, I've got some other patients to attend to.."He said then walked past me

I've never felt so hopeless....

...

I walked into Amika's hospital room and saw her lifeless body, with an oxygen mask on her face and the IV drip I saw earlier on her right arm...

I sat next to her and took of her hands and held it gently, then gently kissed it.
"I promise you Amika, I will do everything in my power to get you better, I will take care of both you and our baby, and Myra as well...just promise me you won't stay asleep for too long..."

It's strange to think that just a few hours ago, she was laughing and smiling as we we're prepared to see our baby for the first time....and now, she was as lifeless as could be

I miss her smile...

I kissed her forehead and continued to hold her hand as I hoped for the best

Third Person Pov
A few days later
6pm
...

A man was seen standing in the mirror of a dark room as he fixed his tie. He was wearing a black suit.

A few moments later a little girl ran into the room
"Daddy..Daddy...am I as pretty as a princess.?" she said as she twirled in her dress as her father laughed
"The prettiest one ever..." he said while picking her up in his arms
"Daddy...?"
"Hmm?"
"When is mommy going to wake up, I miss her alot...."
The man seemed to think about what he was going to say next...
"Don't worry princess, she'll wake up soon and I'm sure she misses you too..."
"Okay....when we get back from aunty Loren's wedding can I talk to her like yesterday..."
"Sure princess, now come on, we're going to be late.."

...
Hope you liked that chapter, I know it was shorter than usual but I just wanted to little chapter to fit in before Loren's wedding...
