Geet’s POV:-

I was in my room, getting ready for my mehendi. Tia Di and Krisha Di were helping me, my girl gang were already all dolled up and had gone to the backyard to check the mehendi ceremony arrangements.

“Look at you, all grown up. Getting ready for your Mehendi. Kab badi ho gayi Geet. It feels like yesterday I held your tiny hand for the first time. I was so proud that I became an elder sister for the 3rd time.” Krisha Di said, getting emotional.

“Haina, feels like yesterday when we both were pulling at each other’s hair just for some stupid candy, jiska pura dabba kitchen mai pada tha.” Tia Di chimed in, trying to lighten the mood.  She was done putting the pins in my hair and stepped back to look at me through the mirror.

Darsh Bhai and Rajat Bhai entered the room, calling out our names.

“Chalo yaar, Tia Di, Krisha Di, kitna time lagega aur?? Mehendi artists kabke aaye hai.” Darsh Bhai said.

“Geet, you are looking like Palak yaar. Ye kya hara hara pehen rakha hai?!” Rajat Bhai teased me.

“Bhaiiiii, mehendi ke outfits green hi hote hai, ab aapko fashion sense nahi usme meri galati nahi hai.” I said, sarcastically smiling at him.

“Accha thike, chalo ab!!” He replied, leaving the room. Darsh Bhai followed him out. As soon as they disappeared from the hallway, Krisha Di held my arm.

“Geet, what about him? Tum usse pyaar karti ho na? To tum ye shaadi kyu kar Rahi ho?” She asked me.

“Di, mai abhi aapko kuch bhi nahi bata sakti, bass itna kahungi ki yeh shaadi ek baar ho Jaye, fir mai aapko sab bata dungi. Abhi humari Puri family itni happy hai, mai unhe dukhana nahi chahti.” I replied, fidgeting with the lehenga that I was wearing.

“Geet, sirf family ke bare mai sochti rahegi ya fir kabhi khud ka bhi khayal karogi? Bass karo yaar, tumhara pyaar chodke aise kaise tum kisi aur se shaadi karogi?” Tia Di said.

They both knew that I loved someone. I hadn’t told them who he was. I know, you share everything with your sisters and what not, but I didn’t tell them. Me and the person I love had decided a long while back that we won’t reveal our relationship to anyone. As we knew, that my family, especially my parents and Grandparents are very stereotypical and won’t allow me to do a love marriage. So, we hid it.

“Kuch bol yaar, tu kisi aur ke naam ki mehendi lagwane ja rahi hai!! Kyu Geet?! Tujhe bhaagna hai yaha se? Bhaag ja! Mai sambhalti hu sab.” Krisha Di said.

“Nahi di, aapko pata hai, Mumma Papa aur Dada Dadi bohot stereotypical hai, mai agar bhaag bhi gayi to mera yaha wapas aana impossible hai. Rather, wo mujhe wapas lenge hi nahi, and rahi baat meri, to mai usse jyada mere family se pyaar karti hu, unse door nahi reh paungi mai. Islie mai ye shaadi kar rahi hu. Abhi no more discussions about this, niche chalte hai, sab wait kar rahe hai.” I explained and left the room.

Everyone was waiting for me in the backyard, with the Shagun ki Mehendi, and extra mehendi cones for everyone else. Rishi was also sitting in the backyard with everyone else. He was wearing a green kurta, almost the same color as my lehenga.
