Footprint - A Poem About Impacts

The sand sinks ever so slightly

As my foot is placed on the once smooth surface

A footprint all that is left behind

Removing my foot

I look back down on the print

And after a long time,

I smile

I think,

That I finally have an impact on the world

Which this footprint represents

An engraving

A signature

My very own impact

But my smile soon fades

When the footprint is washed away

But the roaring sea

Taking my impact away with it

Gone as soon as it came
