Yusra was rushed to the hospital Kamal works in cause she wasn't regaining consciousness.
"Doctor kamal"an average,dark beautiful female doctor called approaching us at the waiting room
Everyone stood up due to anxiousness
I read her name tag "Fatima Bustani"
"Yes,Doctor Fatima"kamal called back
"Im sorry to tell you that your sister in-law needs an immediate surgery"she said looking up from what looks like a report book
"Surgery?"Baba and Dad asked in unison
"Why?"Zaina and I asked in unison looking at each other
Kamil looked too shocked to speak while Auwwal shook his head
"Inna lilahi wa inna ilaihi rajuun"Inna said trying to stand properly
"She has ASD due to our test and cardiogram"doctor Fatima explained
"And what is that i mean we are not all doctors here"Kamil said in an annoyed tone
"Kamil"Kamal called
"It's Atrial septal defect,she has a hole in her atrial septum.its her heart "kamal explained and everyone was shocked
"So we need to carry out a repair with open heart surgery or without an open heart surgery" Doctor Fatima said
"I discussed it with doctor Amina Abubakar and she thinks the same"she added
"Wait Kamal is this not the same Fatima Bustani that studied neuorology?How sure are we she just predicted?"Kamil asked nervously
"Kamil calm down,she furthered her education.shes also a cardiologist"Kamal explained trying to not glare at his brother
"That's offensive but i wouldn't take it personal.i don't even do surgeries,contact Doctor Ahmad Tijjani for more information"she said glaring at Kamil and he gave her a forced smile
"Okay"Kamal said with a nod
"Can we go see her?"Inna asked
"Ofcourse"Doctor Fatima said smiling at Inna
"Don't forget the earlier the surgery the better"i heard her say to Kamal
Kamal nods walking away while we rushed to the ward to see her.
"Im not okay am I?" Yusra asked looking tired
"How do you know?"Zaina asked sadly
"I just feel it"Yusra said and I kept quiet trying to hold my tears
"You are going to get better in sha Allah"Dad assured with a smile
Baba pat her head lovingly and inna rubbed her arms tenderly
"So we are not going again?" Yusra asked
"I don't think so"Baba replied shaking his head
Yusra smiled looking at me and I tried to not burst into tears.
I smiled back mouthing "I love you"
And she mouthed "I know"
Few minutes later Kamal walked in
"How did the call go?"Kamil asked
"He is coming down tomorrow to perform the surgery"Kamal informed
"Alhamdulilah"we all chorused
"How much is the money?"Baba asked thoughtfully
"Umm,one million naira"Kamal replied and Inna gasped
My eyes widened
"You don't have to spend such amount on me" Yusra said innocently
"Shut up"Zaina warned and Yusra shrugged
Dad called for Baba's attention and they excused everyone walking out
Kamal and Kamil followed
"I hope you get well soon so i can teach you how to make horse with sticks"Auwwal finally broke the silence
"Really?" Yusra asked excitedly
"Yes" he assured smiling and we all smiled at an excited Yusra
Kamal's pov
"Ayub,if you need any financial assistance you call tell me"Dad said after they sat on the chairs
"Well,no.i was thinking if they move the surgery till I'm able to get the money maybe like next week"Baba spoke adjusting his cap
Kamil and I looked at each other
"Why are you being stubborn?"Dad asked with raised brows
"I want to be able to do everything for my children without being assisted"Baba explained
We all kept quiet,Baba and dad went back to the ward while an angry looking Kamil stood there staring at the ground.
"Kamil,don't tell me you like that girl?hope the play is not getting to your head"i said trying to make him understand
"Why?is it Haram?" Kamil asked angrily
"Is not but she is just eight going to nine"i tried to reason their big age difference
"I can wait for her"he said non chalantly and I stood their awe struck by his statement
"For ten years?"i asked after I finally got my words together
"It's getting out of hand"i added putting my hands into my trousers pockets
"I don't expect you to understand"he said turning around
He walked back into the ward and I dialled Doctor Ahmad Tijjani's number again.
I can't let her health get worsen it makes things more complicated.
"Kamal you are here,tell Mal to be going to school.she has examinations tomorrow"Yusra said the moment i got in, I was amazed by how brave she is right now
"Will you shut up and eat the Apple?"Zaina asked handing Yusra the Apple she cut
Malak got up and walked out,I quicky follwed her
"Are you crying?"i asked and she turned to face me wiping her tears
"No my eyes are just wet"she replied
"Malak"i called looking at her
"I don't want to lose her" she said trying not to cry and avoiding eye contact with me
"You are not going to lose her in sha Allah"i assured and she looked at me
"This is a doctor's word"i added
And she smiled,just then I knew I made the right decision on saving my little sister in-law
"Ya Allah!"i whispered
