"Maman Aayan, can I get more of the tiger nut drink?"i heard Yusuf asked raising his empty cup
I noticed Hashim,Kamal,Kamil and Fareed stared at him
While the elders were busy discussing one political issue or the other in our country
"What?"he asked
"Don't over drink"Hashim replied
And i got up to go get him more of the drink from the kitchen
Two days after I finished my examination,it happened to be Eid ul Kabeer
Auwal went back home two days ago but my family stayed back cause Dad insisted
And we were all invited to father's house
Where me,mother,Zaina,Fareeda,Raliya helped in the cooking and I happened to make the tiger nut drink Yusuf couldn't stop drinking
"Here"i said handing over a bottle to him
Kamal kept quiet studying me
"You are the best,do you mind giving me your sister?"he asked
I smiled walking away to the kitchen
"Mal it's amazing how this family have twin genes.im sure you are going to give birth to twins"Zaina said arranging the plates Raliyah was washing
I stared at her in shocked
"Oh yeah,Aayan will have twin younger ones how cute"Fareeda cooed pulling my cheeks
Someone clears his throat before he said his Salam and they all made an excuse walking out
"How long have you been standing there?"i asked feeling embarrassed
I looked at him still standing by the door with his hands inside his pockets
"Twenty minutes ago,I heard everything"he replied approaching me removing his hands from his pocket to hold my hand
"But i will pretend I didn't"he said and i really appreciate it because it will be very awkward
"have you eaten?"he asked studying me
"I have been busy,here and here"i replied avoiding eye contact
Before I could continue talking he pulled me to his chest
I was surprised at first but i relaxed realising it's a hug
"Thank you for wearing the lapaya"he whispered in my ear and I smiled
My head placed on his left side of his chest I could feel his heartbeat and my hand placed gently on the right side of his chest.
"You look beautiful"he added softly and my smile never leaving my lips
"Now let's feed you"he said and I pulled out if the hug surprised at his statement
"You are not serious"i said with a straight face
I mean I'm not Aayan that needs to be fed
"I am"he assured smiling and he picked up a big plate and started pouring alot of food.
He kissed my forehead before making me sit on a stool
He placed the food on the kitchen Island infront
Few minutes later he was sitting next to me forcing a spoon into my mouth
"I took dates and fruits you know,my stomach is not that empty"i said chewing my food softly and he glared at me
"Just shut your pretty little mouth"he said rudely raising another spoon full
I rolled my eyes and he chuckled
After few minutes of force feeding,I took water then he handed me a cup of juice
But it's really nice to have someone feed you
Aayan is so lucky,well he is a child i guess.
"Now you look normal"he said wiping the side of my mouth with his thumb gently
And i smiled adjusting his cap
"We are actually having a time to ourselves,ever since we snapped I wanted us to talk but you were too busy"he said excitedly
I took water again then nod at what he said
"You don't know what Aayan did he refused removing his kaftan and he surprised me by being careful with his food"i narrated excitedly
"Our son is growing up,he is going to four next month"he said smiling proud
"Yes I saw it on his birth certificate"i recalled
And we just kept quiet looking at each other
Like he was my mirror and I was his
"Did i tell you how beautiful you look in your lapaya?"he spoke softly breaking the silence
"Yes,if it's up to you.i would only wear nurse uniform and lapaya every day"i said chuckling
"You know me"he said raising his hands in surrender
"And you also look perfectly handsome"i confessed
he smiled amusedly
"I wanted to speak to dad concerning Raliyah I want her to write jamb again and if she gets admission she could be going to university from our house.how amazing can that be?"i asked excitedly
"Wow,that's really nice of you Malak"he said excitedly
And we fist bumped
Yeah we do that when we are proud of each other
We also taught Aayan
My phone alarm rings
"Time for Yusra's drugs"i called
"Oh yeah"he agreed checking the time on his wrist watch
He stood up ,holding out his hand for me and I happily placed my hand in his.
I carried the plate and placed it in the sink on our way out
Once we almost reach the living room
"Please,let go of me now"i said trying to remove my hand
"why? is it a crime?"he asked smirking
"No, but everyone is present especially the elders" I replied feeling shy
"Oh my wife is shy"he said chuckling then he released my hand
And i walked towards the direction of my bag
"Time for your drugs Yusra"i announced carrying my bag
She groaned closing her ears and I shook my head while Zaina laughed
