"Alpha! Alpha! Look what I drew!" A tiny voice called out to Alpha Sampson. He spun on his heel and look to the pup. He had a soft look on his face when he saw Zoe, a 3 year old of one the pack members. "Let me see, Zoe." Sampson crouched down to her level and held out his hand. Zoe giggled and handed him her drawing of a wolf. Sampson smiled, "It's beautiful. I'll see you later Zoe." Sampson patted her head, and she ran along. He continues on his journey.

Sampson was an unusual Alpha. He took on the responsibilities of both the Alpha and Luna of the pack. He cooked for the pack once a week, he trained warriors everyday, he played referee for fights among pack members. If you were to ask any of his members they would say he is the perfect combination of sweet, gentle, firm, protective, understanding, and strict. His pack never strayed from following the rules, except some teenagers now and then. He was fair in his punishments, usually making the teens help the orphans, cook for the entire day, clean the pack house, manual labor. He always made sure it related to whatever rule they broke. His pack had several human mates, that turned when mating happened, unlike other packs. He accepted rogues who still had their humanity, and wanted a pack. He helped lone wolves by giving them supplies. He was one of the best Alpha/Luna's of all.

"Ms. Astrid you only work here for the money!" The child sneered in her face. She began laughing hysterically. "Sweetheart! Bless your heart. I barely make enough to pay my Bill's! I work here because I enjoy it." She laughed out. "You enjoy torturing us kids! You just want to see us suffer!" The child spat. She sighed, and ran her hand down her face. "If that is what you choose to believe, I can't stop you." She shrugged.

Astrid was 25, she worked at a facility for troubled youth. One the kids got upset, and was going off. Astrid being his target. She had worked there for 2 years, and loved her job. Her kids, as she called them, thought of her as twisted and dark. She was called names, she had been hit, kicked, punched, bit, scratched, had things thrown at her, but she still loved working there. Her reward was when the kids would call or message after being out, and thank her for being strict, and explain that they needed it for the real world. Her kids loved her dark sense of humor, little to their knowledge, it was a cover. She had chronic illnesses, including PTSD from being abused, and raped. She  lost her husband due to a car wreck. She tried dating again, but the guy wasn't right.

Alpha Mason was watching Astrid from afar. He had warriors go into her house, and go through her stuff. He was intrigued by this woman. He had been trying to turn humans to become pack slaves/pets. All the humans had died, because they weren't strong enough to survive the shift. He hoped Astrid would survive, because she has fought her way through life. He also knew it would be difficult to break her into a pack slave or his pet, if he turned her. "Alpha, when do we plan on taking her?" His Beta Michael asked. "Tonight while she is sleeping." Mason smirked. He had on several occasions watched her sleep. She lived alone, and isolated herself from most people. Her dog didn't even bother barking at him. She had made herself a perfect target. By the time anyone realized she was missing they would have disappeared.

Astrid sighed as she made her way into her house. "Boog? Do you need to go outside?" She spoke to her Doberman Pinscher Arnold. He yipped happily, and bolted out the door. She laughed and shook her head. She got home late from work, and was exhausted mentally from the kids. Luckily, she had three days off, and planned to clean her house. Arnold scratched at the door, and she let him in. "Bedtime, Arnold?" He bolted for the bedroom, and laid on his side of the bed. She stripped down, and took her heart medication. She laid in bed begging for sleep to take her. She hated her insomnia. She had a bad feeling, but shrugged it off as her bedtime induced anxiety insomnia. It had to be flaring up. She decided she would take one of her sleep aids, since she didn't have to be awake for anything the next day. She took the pill, and read her cheesy cliche werewolf romance novel. She passed out from the pill while reading.

"Alpha, what about the dog?" One of Mason's warriors asked. "Leave him. Let her family take care of him. Take her cellphone and some clothes, make it look like she took off for a few days." He smirked. Mason was in Astrid's home, he watched her take the sleep aid, and thought she would be out. Him, and his warriors were loudly stomping around, and grabbing random items of clothes. They took her phone and phone charger. One of the warriors would take her car and drive it away from the direction they were going. They would make it look like she ran.

Sampson and his wolf told all of the pack they were fine without a mate, and that they had heart enough to take on both responsibilities. However, secretly they longed for their mate. The perfect person to hold in their arms, she would mold to their body, and find safety their. They knew it was a pipe dream. They had searched all the packs, gone to several human towns and cities. He hadn't found her. They feared their mate had died before they met, or she was human and stay closed to home. That was when he was 18, that had been almost 9 years ago. If she was human, she would have a family by now, and children. He sighed, and his wolfed cheered him up by suggesting a run.
