"So what happens now? Do I leave and go back to the hospital?" I ask pushing the tears back

Even though I've only known Ace for 1 week, it still felt unreal to understand that he was gone. It was hard

"Well, that's why Mr. Anderson's lawyers are here" Doctor Ashley says pointing to the men in suits sitting in the living room

"Mrs Anderson, we are very sorry for your loss. We understand that now is a difficult time for you but we must settle paperwork as soon as possible" one of the lawyer says

I look at him with confusion written all over my face
"I'm sorry, what?" I ask

Why the fuck is he calling me Mrs. Anderson?¿

"Mr. Anderson has left everything he owns and inherited to be left under his wife, Mrs. Alexandra Anderson" he says

"Wh-" I'm cut of

"Alex, remember? You and Ace are married. He married you just incase something like this happened, so that you take care of everything he has" the doctor says reminding me

I didn't think this would actually happen. I mean, we got married, yes. But I didn't actually think he would end up dying leaving everything to me.

"So, what am I supposed to do now?" I ask feeling panic. Ace didn't leave much instructions as to what not to do and what to do.

"He has left instructions under his will and testimony so if you will take a seat, we will tell you what Mr. Anderson wanted" they say

Ok, so I guess he did leave instructions....

I take a seat on the sofa in front of the 3 lawyers with Doctor Ashley beside me

"Mr. Anderson is leaving you with his house and all his bank assets including private funds. He is also leaving you with Anderson Tech, it is to continue being taken care of with its current employees. Mr David Zay is the current head of the company after Mr Ace Anderson and will continue to take care of the company and guide it. All major decisions including selling and buying will have to go through you first. Mrs Molly Pedros will continue to work here 6 days a week until she wishes to do so. Everything will be signed under your name Mrs. Anderson" the lawyers say

What the hell

"Wow, um. This is a bit much" I say shaking my head

What in the world was happening to me

"No need to panic or stress. We understand that it's already a difficult time for you" another lawyer says to me

I couldn't focus on anything, my breaths start to become shorter and I felt as if I was gasping for air

"I'm sorry" I say and get up quickly leaving the room
I run out the door and find myself at the patio in the backyard
I take a seat on the bench that was there and look ahead at the orange sun that was setting

It's crazy how so much can change in only a few hours.
How was I just supposed to sign over everything that someone worked hard for, to me?

I didn't even know that person well.
But yet, he's my husband?
I'm Alex Anderson, wife of Ace Anderson, the founder and CEO of Anderson Tech. A multi-million dollar company that he worked hard for.
I am now a widow because my 'husband' passed away in a car accident on his way to the hospital for a dangerous surgery. But yet he dies in a car accident causing the ambulance to explode leaving no survived bodies. I now inherit everything. All his money, savings, house, cars, company and even his maid.
How?
Why?

I didn't even know what he looked like! His face was all bandaged and damaged.
I felt guilty. I felt horrible. I didn't want his money. I didn't want his company. I didn't want anything. I wanted to go back to my little apartment and sit in my bed forever. Never leaving it.
I didn't want any of this. Because it's not mine.

"Miss?" I hear a familiar voice call out

Two hands are placed on my shoulders and I turn around to see Molly behind me

"Molly, why are you still here?" I ask while turning to face her

"I went home, but I couldn't help my self from coming back. I wanted to be with you. I know it must be hard for you as it is for me" She says taking s seat beside me on the bench

I let out a huge sigh
"I know, it is hard" I say

We sit in silence for a bit until I decide to speak

"So what are you going to do now?" I ask her

She shakes her head "I don't know. I guess I'll need to go job hunting now. Will you be selling the house?" she asks

I take a moment to think

I don't want to change anything. I don't want to touch anything. This all isn't mine, so why not just leave it as is

"No. I won't be selling this house. I was hoping you could continue working here?" I ask her

"Why, yes of course. Will you be staying here then?" She asks me

"I-I guess? Everything is under my name now..." I say, more like telling myself

"What are you going to do then?" Molly asks me

"Work. I'm going back to work at the hospital. I'm gonna continue my life as if this never happened" I say

"But what about everything Mr. Anderson left you?" She asks me

"I'll live here. I'll make sure his company is taken care of. But I'm not gonna sit here feeding off his money. It's not mine. And besides, I'll hate sitting here all day doing nothing. Work will keep me busy" I say

I take another moment to think

"I'll work and cover my own expenses, I'll only use his money to pay for the house's expenses, for his company and to pay you" I nod in confirmation to myself

"Well then, let's do this together Mrs. Anderson" Molly says holding my hand

"Let's go sign these papers" I say
