She wanted to run away from her family, her present, her life. She had been hating her existence, reprimanding herself for being a 'trouble' to her mother. She was craving to flee off, from everything and everyone... flee to her own Utopia, where she was alone. Alone with someone, who understood her.
Uma craved freedom; and when she got it served on a silver platter she couldn't resist it. Despite her inner turmoil, she marries him.
