Chapter 32: Valentine's day

It was Valentine's Day today. 14th February. And I hated that day. Something would always go wrong on this particular day. It has been happening to me for years now. So I gradually began to hate it.

So I could just hope nothing goes wrong but who am I kidding. We were in the last class of the day. I was with Matt the whole day. Also I couldn't visit my locker the whole day. I was just busy. So when the bell rang I started to go towards my locker but one of classmates needed some help with a maths product which took around 10mins. Matt was patiently waiting for me. When I was done I told him to accompany me. We were walking. The whole corridor was empty. My brothers had soccer practice today so I had to go home with Sawyer. And then I saw my locker.

"Oh God! Oh God! Shit. What the fudge! Matt look at that!" He followed my gaze.

"Oh God! I didn't know we were surrounded by so many suicidal people around us."

"Matt. Not the time for sarcasm. Shit they cant see this!"

My once a simple locker was now surrounded by lots and lots of red roses, gifts and lit candles and a lot of heart balloons. And then my phone ringed. It was Sawyer as I was 5 minutes late than usual.

"Hey Sawyer!" I said fake laughing.

"Miss Katherine where are you? It's been 5 minutes."

"I'm sorry I forgot to tell you. Um..actually my friend Matt needs help with his...History. So I'm gonna help him in the library." I loed through my teeth. All the while Matt was making faces and telling me not to drag him into this. Sorry Bud.

"Mr. Wright hasn't informed me of any such engagement."

"Cause it was last minute. I'll just call him now okay." With that I ended the conversation. Now I had to call Alex. I hated how I had to take his permission for such little things. But I don't want to get grounded again. So I sucked in a huge breath and called him.

"Kat."

"Heyy alex. Are you busy?"

"No go ahead."

"Um..Matt here needed my help with history today so I thought we could stay back and I could help him in the library?" It sounded more like a question.

"Kat you should have told me before." He said seemingly unhappy.

"It was last minute!"

"Okay fine. Please be-"

"Careful." I said completing his sentence. It was all done now and now Matt was glaring at me.

"Do you want them to kill me too?"

"Common you're my best friend! Besides how am I supposed to clean all this up. I need help. Please!"

"FINE. But only this time."

"Thank you." I said smiling cheekily.

"Wait here. I'll grab some garbage bags from the janitors closet. Fuck you Valentine's day."
I laughed at his statement.

I quickly started collecting the rose bouquets which were flooding around. Matt came back with the bags. I didn't wanted to disrespect somebody's feelings or hurt them in any way. But I dont want a relationship right now. And I know that it's fairly common for girls my age to have a girlfriend or boyfriend but I simply wasn't ready. And in fact I was foing all these people a favor. If my brother found out about this they were gonna be in a whole lot of trouble. I blew all the candles and started putting them in the bags. There were also chocolates. The nice type. So me and Matt ate a lot of them and the rest I put them in my bag. WHAT! Dont judge me I'm in love with chocolates!
