Thief

Time

Healer of all wounds

We're told

Purveyor of promise

And thief of dreams

I say

Playful, secretive and spiteful

Swapping years with moments

In a heartbeat

Often, the final heartbeat

When the illusion of forever

Stretches before you

Like a river

Time sweeps you in its current

To leave you

Precariously

At the waterfall

Where all your plans

Drown

As Time hurtles away

Never slowed

Never tamed

Never caught

Running through fingers

Like rain

Today is one year since my mother died suddenly She had cancer that she'd known about (and kept to herself) for a year and a half. As such, it was a big shock to my brother and me.

Time tells you think you have all the time in the world. that's not necessarily the case. Make every moment count and don't put off that message, that phone call or visit. Don't put off writing that book or jumping out of that plane.

Time might just steal the chance without you knowing, then it's too late.
