Avengers Guarded

Ch. 4 "Sad"

                                                   Cody POV 

"Mr. Stark you really need to stop following me," I said crossing my ams, 

"That's all you have to say after I just saved your life?" He said 

"Thank you, now stop following me," I said blankly 

"You know you have this way of making thank you sound like drop dead," Tony said 

"It's a gift," I said 

"Look kid-" He said 

"Cody," I said 

"Okay Cody, I just want to help," He said 

"I don't need your help now if you'll excuse me," I said walking away, 

I didn't go into the hospital at first, I walked down the street, and went in one of the car shops and waiting twenty minutes, 

Then walked back and walked into the hospital, taking the elevator to the floor, I walked into my mom's room, where my step dad stood, 

I walked in casually, I knew he was upset at me by the way he looked at me, I can't blame him I never did come home last night, 

Stop it Cody stop making excuse for him, 

"Sweetheart," Mom said 

"Hey mom," I said kissing her cheek, 

"I came as soon as I heard, what happened?" I said 

"It was only a bad reaction dear," My step father Denis said 

I nodded, 

"How are you feeling?" I asked 

"I'm feeling better," She said as she smiled weakly at me, 

"Well I have to get going," Denis said 

Which is code word for getting drunk at a few bars, until they kick him out, 

"You coming Cody?" He asked 

I shook my head no, 

"No I'm going to stay for a little while," I said 

He nodded leaving, 

I took my mom's hand, with both of mine holding it, I knew she wasn't getting better, I know there is no cure for what she has, but I just want to hope for the time being hope everything will turn out okay, for once, just for once something turning out right, 

"What is it my little bean," She asked 

"Nothing.." I said sadly 

"I know this is hard for, you but you know I'm proud of you," She said 

I nodded, 

"Smart in every way just like your father, and I wouldn't change any of it," She said 

I felt tears welling up in my eyes, 

"I just don't know how to do this..." I said 

"I know my little bean, I know its hard for you, being as cleaver as you are and not being able to come up with a solution," She said 

I nodded 

I took a deep breath, 

"Miss visiting hours are over," The nurse said 

I nodded, 

"I'll be back tomorrow," I said I kissed her on the cheek, as I was about to leave I looked at her one last time, and walked out the door, 

I was walking out the door, when my phone rang, 

"Hello," I said 

"Cody, hey I just heard how is she doing?" Peter said in a panic 

"She's dealing," I said 

"How are you doing?" He asked concerned, 

"I'm fine," I said 

"Your tone says other wise," He said 

"Yeah, do you want to meet at the usual place," I said 

"yeah, I'll be there in ten minutes!" He said 

"Alright," I said 

With that we hung up, 

I made my way to the abandoned district, the tallest building the looked out at the harbor, I made my way to the roof by taking the stairs inside the building, and walked out to the roof, sitting on the edge as my legs dangled over the edge, 

I hear someone land behind me, yeah, I know me and Peter are close enough for me to know he is spiderman, 

He sat down next to me, 

"Hey," He said 

"Hey," I said smiling at him tiredly 

                                          Tony POV 

"You know Tony I'm pretty sure this is borderline stalking," Nat said 

"No it's research," I said 

After I got back I followed Cody with the camera system, she was in the hospital for a while, I did my research her mother is in the hospital, 

Camila Grey, I know that name? I thought but shook it off, 

Soon after she left she made her way to the abandoned district and i couldn't believe my eyes, Peter lands behind her sitting next to her, 

I smirk oh If I know that I would be asking the kid questions, I thought 

"Looks like me and Peter are going to have a sit down tomorrow," I mumbled
