The Game Changer

Shakuni was shocked hearing Karna's substitute's name. Krishna was welcomed with great pomp and splendor when they learnt that he was on his way to Hastinapur.

Krishna entered the hall with a big smile in his face. 

"We welcome you Dwarikadeesh..." Maharaj Dridhrashtr said folding his hands

The people who thought Karna was going to lose began doubting their own statements. They had heard of Lord Krishna's Kalinga Narathana, the way he lifted the Govardhan with his small finger, the way he defeated Kans, and many other miracles. 

Bhishm Pitamah smiled at Karna when he learnt that Krishna would be playing instead of him.

Ashwathama, Duryodhan and Shakuni were very strong in their belief that they would win the game. Others had a doubt regarding who would win the game. 

Mahamantri Vidur looked at Karna thinking, "Indeed, this boy is intelligent..." 

"So, Vasudev Krishn will play instead of me..."

"Let the game begin.." Duryodhan cried sitting next to Shakuni

"What? Vasudev Krishn is playing as Brathshree's substitute?" Arjun stood up 

"But what if they lose the game?" Nakula asked worried

"Nothing bad will happen...I can predict it..." Sahadev cried

The Pandavas knew very well about Krishna's intelligence. 

"I wish I had done this thirteen years ago..." Yudhistir cried looking at Draupadi

The dice game begun. It seemed like Karna was losing almost everything, to the surprise of Duryodhan and Shakuni.  Karna had lost his kingdom to Duryodhan.

"Angraj, you've made the wrong decision of bringing Vasudev here..." Shakuni cried stroking his beard

"It seems like Vasudev isn't really that great in this game..." Duryodhan cried and continued

"I repeat again...accept defeat...I will be your friend...else you will be my slave..." 

"I place my parents and all my kith and kin at stake..." Karna cried confidently and bent down to Krishna

"That includes you too..." 

Krishna smiled at Karna, who knew that nothing can win Krishna over, except for Bhakti and love. 

"And I stake all my brothers,my wives, our children whom I have rights upon..."

The next round was the game changer.  The dice did not fall according to Shakuni. 

"You are a cheater!" Shakuni shouted at Krishna

Everyone including Duryodhan were Karna's slaves now.

"Why? I am not a cheater!...You can ask anyone here..." Krishna chuckled

Within the next few rounds, Duryodhan had lost everything including all his wealth and rights. 

"Being the prince of the whole kingdom...I put my father, my mother and Mahamahim Bhishm and Guru Dron at stake and Mamashree Shakuni and the kingdom of Gandhar" Duryodhan angrily exclaimed

All the kingdoms that Karna won over during Digvijay yatra, went back to him.

Dridhrashtr gave permission to Duryodhan to stake him and his kingdom expecting that he would win back everything. But fate and luck were in someone else's hands!

"The player gets played...!" Krishna muttered to his cousin 

In the last round, everyone present in the Sabha were slaves of Karna, except for Krishna.

Karna had the whole of Aryavrat under his control, including Indraprasth and Hastinapur.

"Mahamahim Bhishm...isn't Karna your master?" Krishna asked

"Yes...he is my master.." Bhishm pitamaha explained

The men who were laughing at The Pandavas plight, had to hide their face with shame.

"Would you carry out his orders?" Krishna asked smilingly

"Yes...I will..."

"Sut putr! And you shepherd!" Shakuni began jumping with anger

"You are my slave now...I will ask Mahamahim to slit your throat if you turn against me..." Karna threatened

Duryodhan and the other Kauravas stepped back with fear.

"This game began thirteen years ago and it ends now," Krishna cried to the whole sabha

"I give the Pandavas what they lost...I give them the Kingdom of Indraprasth..." Karna announced

"What? really? Brathashree has won the game?" Bheem stood up with excitement

"Yes....and he has given us the kingdom of Indraprasth...we are the rightful owners of Indraprasth..." Yudhistir exclaimed

"Arya, but Aryaputr Karn is the eldest of you all..." Draupadi cried

"Sut putr Karn! I made you the king!..." Duryodhan shouted

"Guru Dron, could you please silence your disciple?" Karna cried

Guru Dron had to accept and he asked Duryodhan to calm down

"I'm sure Angraj would not do anything wrong...." Vidur told Bhishm

"I know...I know...Vidur..." He cried smiling

"What? That's a wonderful news! Guru Dron and Mahamahim Bhishm are Karna's slaves!" Drupad excitedly exclaimed

"Shikhandini ! Drishtadyumn! It's time for taking revenge for their deeds...he will have to repay for snatching away half of my kingdom...and for Draupadi's humiliation!" 

"Yes Pitashree...we will go to Hastinapur as soon as possible..." Drishtadyumn exclaimed
