Ian opened the front door to his house and walked in.

"Mom? Mom?" He called, receiving no answer.

He went up to his room and turned on the light. He took the sweatshirt off and placed it down on his dresser and took a seat at his desk. He pulled out his "New Me" list and crossed all of them off. He sighed and leaned back in his chair and looked up at the pictures he had on his wall. One of them was a picture of his dad, his mom, who was pregnant, and a little Barley.  The next photo held his mom, a kid Barley and a little baby Ian. No dad.

Ian placed a boombox on his desk and pulled out a tape labeled "DAD". He put the tape in and pressed play.

Laurel: Will, you're not gonna get that thing working.

Wilden: I think I've got it.

Laurel: I'm gonna watch from over here for when it blows up.

Wilden: Hello? Hello?

Laurel: I'll bet good money you can't get it to work.

Wilden: Oh, is that right?

Laurel: Yep. But you're doing a good job of making it look like you know what you're doing.

Wilden: *laughs* Well, I'm trying to.

Laurel: Did you check if it had batteries? Of course you didn't.

Wilden: I know.

Laurel: So, is it really working?

Wilden: Let's find out. Okay. Bye.

When the tape ended, Ian pressed the rewind button to replay the conversation.

Laurel: Will, you're not gonna get that thing working.

Wilden: I think I've got it.

Laurel: I'm gonna watch from over here for when it blows up.

"Hi dad." Ian said.

Wilden: Hello? Hello?

"It's me Ian."

Wilden: Oh, is that right?

"Yeah. Did you have a good day?"

Wilden: *laughs* Well, I'm trying to.

"Yeah, me too. Although, I could clearly use some help."

Wilden: *laughs*

"I sure do wish I could spend the day with you sometime."

Wilden: I know.

"Well, there are so many things we could do. I bet I'd be really fun.

Wilden: Let's find out.

Yeah. I mean, I'd love to. We could, uh...

Wilden: Okay. Bye

"Yeah. Bye."

*knock knock*

"Come in."

(Y/n) entered the room with a needle and thread.

"Hey, I can sew up your sweatshirt if you want." She suggested.
