I woke up some time in the night to use the bathroom. When I came back I noticed Alonzo was there. I didn't realize he was there before. I didn't think he'd come back to this room honestly. The other thing I notice is that he is staring up at me. It honestly scares the shit out of me, making me jump, holding my heart.

"I didn't mean to scare you." He says with a raspy voice.

"I didn't mean to wake you." I mumble.

He sits up onto his elbows. "What was that?" He asks calmly.

I let out a shaky sigh. "I said, 'I didn't mean to wake you'."

"Oh, it's fine, you didn't. I'm just a light sleeper." He says.

"Okay." I reply, walking to the couch about to sit down but he stops me.

"What are you doing?" He asks with a questioning tone.

I look down at the floor. "Nothing. I was just going to sleep on the couch." I tell him as I pull a blanket from the top of the sofa.

"Why?" Alonzo asks, sitting up more.

"I just thought you were mad at me." I respond.

He sighs. "I'm not mad. Come on, come back to bed." He urges.

I want to protest, but what happens when I try to fight back again? Get some bruises again? He'll take me by the jaw and spit some mean words again? My parents get threatened again? It's best if I just listen to what he says, comply with every order.

I make my way back to the bed and lay down between Buchanon and Lorenzo. Each of them underneath the blankets. They both fell asleep with me earlier, snuggling with me. It made me feel comfortable. Now I'm far away and just want to sink into the mattress to hide.

"Are you okay?" He asks, looking down at me.

I just nod my head to answer.

"What? No words?" He chuckles. "You always have something snarky to say."

I remain quiet.

"Reagan." He presses. "What's wrong?"

I shake my head.

"Words. Say something." He orders.

"Something."

He laughs. "There it is."

"There what is?" I laugh a little with him.

He finishes laughing. "You. Don't ever be quiet. It's not you."

I nod my head with a smile. He just tilts his head, waiting for me to say something. "Got it." I put up a thumbs up for him with a goofy grin.

He leans down, planting a kiss on my eyebrow in a gentle way. "Good night amore."

"Good night." I smile, turning onto my stomach, laying into a comfortable position, into a comfortable sleep.
