Kate felt her eyes flutter open, the sun shone through her opened curtains.

She sat up in her bed and noticed the note on the pillow next to her

Called Bobby, he completely understood and said to take as much time as you need, fresh breakfast is in the fridge and I gave milo breakfast with two bowls of water like you do.

- Buck (your favorite person)

Kate folded the letter and left it on her nightstand, she looked at her phone and seen it was 11:30, she noticed the miss phone call from an unknown number followed by a message.

I'm so sorry, I never meant for anyone to get hurt. - Adam

Kate almost threw her phone at the message. She stood from her bed and decided against taking the day off work, if she wasn't working she was doing to drive herself insane

Kate walked into the station, noticing the empty lot where the trucks would usually park. She headed up to the kitchen, assuming they'd be back soon.

Kate made a fresh coffee, she took a seat at the table and sipped at the dark liquid

"Kate Quinn right?" A familiar voice appeared from nowhere

Kate looked to her right and noticed the familiar red head that went by Taylor. She stood with a smile, a man stood with a camera behind her.

"Uh.. yeah" Kate replied unsure

"I'm doing a story on the firehouse, I wanted to interview you all. You are one of the last" she said "can I ask you a few questions?" She asked

Kate hesitated before answering "sure" she replied, needing the distraction

"All right, so you are from Ireland right?" She asked

"Yeah"

"Why did you move here?" Taylor asked

Kate shrugged "I wanted a change of scenery and I remember always wanting to come to LA so I chose here"

"How is it adjusting to LA?"

"Hard" Kate gave a short laugh "so far I've seen things I would have dreamed of back home, every call manages to baffle me"

"What was the earthquake like for you, it was your first correct?"

"Uh yeah" Kate nodded "if was terrifying, I never felt fear like that in my entire life but in that moment I had to push my fear aside and help those who needed it"

"Lastly, what made you want to become a firefighter"

Kate sighed, pondering the question "em, I was 14 and my old house had gone on fire, the entire house lit up in flames every way out seemed to Be blocked by Debris. I remember thinking I was going to die, my mother held me and my brother in her arms and Prayed for a rescue." She took a small breath, tears threatened her eyes, memories resurfaced of the horrible night
