Avery Romano

I couldn't believe my ears when I heard his name. I didn't know that he had a son.

The two of them continued standing at a distance away from me which I was glad. Roman Parker then asked again,"What's your name? Since I've already gave mine."

"Avery Romano." I muttered. He then looked at the gruff guy beside him, then back at me. I lowered my guard a little since they don't seem like they would do anything to me.

"A Romano? Fucking hell." He grumbled out, with one of his hand combing through his already messy hair. I tilted my head quizzically at them, do they know something about me or the Romano?

He took a step forward, while I debated whether to move back or to stay at my original spot. I chose the former since his reaction was highly suspicious. He raised his hands up in the air when he saw my actions. His gaze softened a little as compared to just now.

"I promise, I won't hurt you in the slightest way." I scoffed internally at his words, that was what my brothers used to tell me when I was young. Look at what happened now. I nodded at his words, but showed no attempt of getting anywhere near him. He took the hint and decided to stay at where he was standing and stopped trying to move closer to me.

"Look, you might not remember me but I used to visit your house together with the man who was also known as my dad. I just want to know why he kidnapped you here." I furrowed my eyebrows at his statement. It seems like I really don't remember his existence. Looking straight into his eyes for any ounce of lies, but I could find none. Moreover, if he really wants to kill me, he would have blown my head off the moment he crawled into the room. I was going to die here anyways.

I took a small step towards him to show that I trusted his words and he gave me a small smile. Although the guy beside him was not showing any signs of kindness towards me, but I could not feel any evil intentions from him.

I sighed a little as I revealed the reason as to why I was here, and also told him about the affair that Felix Parker had witnessed back then, expressing my thoughts that I do not think my dad was someone who would cheat on his the other half. He did not seem to be surprised at the piece of information, which surprised me instead.

He probably sensed my surprise and confusion, and proceeded to explain,"He gave that woman the benefit of doubt instead of his friend who was also like his brother. That woman was the one who drugged your father and made it look as though they had slept together. But my father thought that your father was the one who had initiated the affair and had always bore a grudge towards him. He divorced that woman soon after, because he could not stand looking at her who cheated on him with his friend." I was not surprised to hear that my dad was innocent. I never believed what I had heard from Felix Parker.

"I just didn't expect him to still bore the grudge from decades and he even kidnapped you here. I'm sorry for what he had done." He apologised solemnly while I shook my head lightly,"We don't get to choose our parents, you don't have to apologise for something that he had done. It's not your fault." Just as he was about to speak again, we heard the sound of the lock unlocking at the door and all of our eyes widened. I ushered them to go back from where they came from and to never set foot here again.

But what Roman Parker said at the last second before he closed the door of the tunnel surprised me,"We will be back, before tomorrow night." I ignored his words and hurriedly closed the door for them and ran back to the same spot to where I was sitting.

To say my heart was pumping furiously was an understatement. It was pumping out of my throat.

Roman Parker

Damian and I crawled out of the small tunnel and our men immediately ran up to get us out. I was still in disbelief that he would resort to such extent to kidnap a Romano. But to see Avery again made me happy, I used to carry either her or Ariana whenever my father brought me over to the Romano. After our visit, I would always pester my mother to give me a younger sister. It never happened anyways.

Tomorrow night.

I have to take actions before he does and get Avery out of here as soon as possible. She was never meant to be caught in between the crossfire of my father's revenge. And moreover, the one whom he should be taking a revenge on is the woman that he once loved.

Looking at the rundown building again, I hurried back to my place to hatch up a plan that can get Avery out of here.

Avery Romano

Felix Parker walked in with his usual evil grin today and I was no longer surprised. He was as insane as how Roman had described him to be. But sadly, he was a victim who was caught in the lies of his ex-wife.

He moved forward to where I was sitting and said,"I see that you've managed to free yourself from the leg bind." He then turned around to glare at his men and I chuckled drily,"Don't worry, even if my legs are free, I won't run away from here. I'm your trump card right now, isn't it? If I run away, you won't be able to win this game. No worries, I will let you achieve your victory soon." He laughed at my words and complimented,"No wonder your dearest father had always complimented for your intelligence, you're a terribly smart person I must say. All right, since you're so cooperative with me, I will give you a reward."

My eyes shot up at his words, with a chill being sent down my spine. Although I was not afraid of getting killed by him, getting a reward from him was the scariest part of all. He leaned forward and whispered harshly,"I will allow you to call your family for the last time. Let them hear your desperate cries for help and feel the despair." I showed no emotions in my face because I was the least interested in his so-called rewards here.

After pondering for a moment, I replied,"Fine, but let me call Mason instead. I have things to tell him." His brows furrowed angrily and bellowed,"I'm the one who's going to decide who to call, not you!" I scoffed at his words,"I have tons of way to get out of here, would you like me to try them out the moment you leave this room?"

His face looked as if it was about to explode with anger before he pulled me harshly by my hair and I held in the scream that was about to leave my mouth.

"If you dare to try anything funny, I will shoot you dead right here." He spat. with some of his spit landing on my face. I winced in both pain and disgust. Fucking disgusting shit. I heard him ordering his man to get Mason's number and get him on the call later. I smirked to myself internally knowing that my threat had worked.

After seeing how Roman managed to get in here through the little tunnel, I definitely could get out of here without them noticing. But a part in me refused to, and somehow I gave in to that thought. If I can make it out of here alive, I would still have to return back there.

It was a dilemma that made me have second thoughts about surviving this time.
