{Three day's later}

"I'll bet you, you can't run around and eat this peanut butter and whistle in around 10 seconds." Alex said with that mischief smile sliding threw her adorable face.

"I bet you I can." I said, satisfy myself as I turn around while holding on to the peanut butter jar.

"10..9..8..7...6...5..." Alex said playfully as she watched me dig on the peanut butter with my fingers, " 4...3..." As I got done with half the amount of peanut butter I tried swallowing the bits of sticky peanut on top of my roof of my mouth and bits under my teeth.

"2...1.... ahhhhh," she was about to say zero when I blew a whistle. She giggled and ran towards me, "Your the coolest brother a girl can ever ask for. Well, only if you had long hair so I can braid it." She smiled and skipped out the door to were my father and mother stood.

"Hello mommy and daddy."  Alex yelled as she waved past them and went toward Elizabeth's room. Maybe to bug her too?

"Bye Alex." My mom giggled as she put her arm around my dad's waist.

"Samuel, we have some things to discuss about the Q-U-E-S-T."

"Alex is gone." I said,

"I know. I just don't want the workers around here to find out."

"Well there going to find out sooner or later. I think they can pretty much spell when they were three." We entered inside the main office that belonged to my father because all of his business and things going on with the kingdom. You can call it his other life, but to me he's like any other father. My mom put a reassuring hand on my back.

"So, we know for sure your leaving tomorrow at night." she asked, concern written all over her delicate features. Most like Alex's but more mother like.

"That is true." Father spoke up while sitting down my mom and sitting next to her, "Are you going to be okay with this Sam?" It's been along time since I've heard my dad call me by my nickname.

"I'm sure." I responded, puffing out my chest to prove that I will rescue this mysterious girl from the tower of Ember.  Quietly my parents sent telepathically singles toward each other. My father gave a small nod and looked once over to me,

"Your mother says that you have to be careful and that you can go." I could see the tears ready to form on my mother's eyes. I ran towards her rapping my arms around her waist.

"I'll be fine mother. Nothing is going to happen." Kissing the top of my mother's forehead.

"I know that silly. I'm just concerned. I'm your mother for goodness sake." She slapped my chest playfully and ruffled my hair, "I've raised you all my life and now I'm seeing you grow up."

"You have Alex." I finished, wiping the tear that slid down her face,

"But your always going to be my first baby boy."

My dad came over and patted my back, "Now, when we get this little sad story done. Let's get you all set." Clapping his hands as he takes my mother out the room. Which left me all alone. Smiling to myself as I looked out the window to see the passage way to the Garden which lead to the Lake. I heard little footsteps which lead to little chuckles.

"ALEX!" I spun around seeing a giggly Alex with a weird looking mask on her face.

"Did I scare you?" She asked taking out the mask and jumping on my back. Almost reminding my about Rachel when she jumped on my back to try to kiss me, but I shook it off.

"Of course you did." I tackled her down and threw her on my shoulders. Hitting my back as she yelled, "LET ME GO!" But still laughing.

"Come on you little girl. Were taking you for ice cream."
