Aerys laid beside Rhaenyra under the weirwood tree, the two had just gotten back from the Dragonpit, having spent the morning racing through the skies. The Uncle and niece had grown closer in the almost three years since Alicent had married Viserys. Both mourning their relationship with the new Queen.

A minstrel sat on the other side of the tree singing some song Rhaenyra had requested, as Aerys shut his eyes, listening to the breeze rustling the leaves of the weirwood tree.

"Again." Rhaenyra ordered.

"Give the poor man a break, we have listened to that song five times now." Aerys spoke, peeking an eye open to look at his niece.

"I can't help if I like it, Kepas." Rhaenyra smiled down at the older man.

As the minstrel cleared his throat and began the song again, Aerys lifted his hand from behind his head, and pinched Rhaenyra's side. "Don't be a brat."

"And yet you've let me listen to it so many times already." Aerys merely hummed in response, relaxing further into the soft blanket below him.

Abruptly the music stopped, causing Aerys to open his eyes.

"Your Grace." the Minstrel greeted.

"Did I stay to stop?" Silence followed Rhaenyra's question. "From the beginning."

"Rhaenyra? Aerys?" Alicent's sweet voice called, causing a pain to begin in Aerys' chest.

"Yes, my Queen?" Rhaenyra answered.

"Your presence is wanted in the outer courtyard. The royal hunt readies to depart."

"We've decided to remain here instead." Rhaenyra answered for the both of them, knowing her uncle couldn't bear to face the Queen.

"You may go, Samwell." Alicent dismissed the Minstrel, finally stopping that dreadful song.

"You are to stay by order of the Princess."

"The Queen commands you to leave the Godswood at once."

"Prince, Princess." Samwell bowed to the two Targaryens. Rhaenyra Ignored the poor man while Aerys sarcastically waved goodbye.

"The King wishes for you to join us."

"The King has much to celebrate, he does not need me."

"He wants for us all to be together. Perhaps the hunt could be fun."

"Is it the King's command?"

"Yes but it-"

"Then at once, Your Grace." The book Rhaenyra had been reading snapped closed as she stood up, waiting for her uncle to get up as well.

"But it needn't be," Alicent continued as Aerys and Rhaenyra walked past her. "None of it needs be this way in truth. Rhaenyra, Aerys Please?"
