The first rays of the morning sun were starting to creep into the room as Y/N stirred from her slumber. She was nestled in the warm, comforting embrace of Regina George, her girlfriend for the past eight months. Regina's rhythmic breathing was the only sound in the room, a soothing melody that had lulled Y/N to sleep countless times. Y/N turned to look at Regina, her heart swelling at the sight of her peaceful face. She placed a gentle kiss on Regina's forehead, careful not to wake her, before slipping out of bed.

Y/N padded softly into the bathroom, the cool tiles a stark contrast against her warm feet. She turned on the shower, the room quickly filling with steam as she stepped under the warm spray. The water was a welcome wake-up call, washing away the remnants of sleep and preparing her for the day ahead.

Once she was done, Y/N wrapped herself in a towel and moved to Regina's closet. She scanned the array of clothes, her fingers lightly brushing against the fabric as she decided what to wear. As she reached for a blouse, her hand brushed against a small, hard object. Intrigued, she pulled it out, revealing a picture frame.

The photo inside was of Regina and another girl who bore an uncanny resemblance to Y/N. The girl was petite, with the same hair color and eyes as Y/N. Confusion washed over her as she flipped the frame over, revealing a note attached to the back. "My dear Aliyah," it read, "I saw someone that looks like you, love. I'm gonna distract myself with her until I don't feel the pain anymore. Love, Regina."

Y/N felt a knot form in her stomach. The words echoed in her mind, each syllable a painful reminder of what she had just discovered. She was a distraction? A replacement for this Aliyah? She felt a wave of emotions crash over her, but she pushed them down, deciding to keep her discovery a secret for now. She placed the picture back in the closet, finished dressing, and left the room, her mind a whirlwind of thoughts.

At school, Y/N put on a brave face. She laughed at Regina's jokes, held her hand in the hallways, and even shared a lunch together. But behind her smile, there was a storm brewing. Every glance at Regina was a reminder of the picture, of the note, of the confusion and hurt she felt.

Despite her feelings, Y/N decided to keep her discovery a secret. She wanted to understand the whole story before making any conclusions. After all, relationships aren't always straightforward, and she was determined to get to the bottom of this mystery. But for now, she would keep her secret, acting nonchalantly as if nothing had happened, while inside, she was anything but calm.

As the school day wore on, Y/N's mind was a whirlwind of thoughts. The picture, the note, the girl who looked just like her - it all kept replaying in her mind. She knew she couldn't keep her feelings bottled up any longer. She had to confront Regina. So, she gathered her courage and approached Regina after school.

"Regina," Y/N said, her voice steady despite the turmoil inside her. "I'm gonna be at your house at 8." Regina looked taken aback, her eyes widening slightly. Y/N rarely called her by her full name, and the seriousness in her voice was enough to send a wave of panic through Regina.

At 8 pm, Y/N found herself standing outside Regina's house. She took a deep breath, steeling herself for the confrontation ahead. As she walked into Regina's room, she could feel the tension in the air. Regina was sitting on her bed, her eyes wide with worry.

"I know who you pretend I am," Y/N finally said, breaking the silence. She watched as Regina's face turned pale, her eyes widening even more. Y/N paused, giving Regina a moment to take in her words. She knew this was a lot to process, and she wanted to give Regina a chance to respond. After all, this was a conversation, not a confrontation. She was here for answers, not to accuse. And she hoped that, despite the confusion and hurt, they could find a way to navigate through this together.

Regina sat frozen, her eyes wide with shock. "Hang on, what do you mean?" she stammered, attempting to feign ignorance. But Y/N was not having it.

"Don't act dumb, Regina," Y/N said, her voice firm yet filled with palpable hurt. "I saw the picture in your closet." The words hung heavy in the air, a silent accusation that made Regina's heart sink. It was then that Regina realized what Y/N had discovered.

"Aliyah..." Regina started, her voice barely above a whisper. She paused, swallowing hard as she tried to find the right words. "Aliyah was my girlfriend before you. She... she broke up with me. I don't know why."

Y/N's heart ached at Regina's confession. The hurt was evident in Regina's voice, and Y/N could only imagine the pain she must have felt. But alongside the sympathy, there was a twinge of anger and betrayal. "Did you even love me for who I am?" Y/N asked, her voice barely above a whisper. "Or did you just love me because I look like her? Why not me?..."

Regina looked at Y/N, her eyes filled with regret. "At first, yeah, I loved you because you looked like her," she admitted, her voice shaky. "But a month into our relationship, I loved you for who you are."

Y/N was silent for a moment, taking in Regina's words. She felt a mix of emotions - relief, confusion, and a lingering sense of betrayal. "So, I was just a replacement at first?" she asked, her voice barely audible.

Regina nodded, her eyes welling up with tears. "I'm so sorry, Y/N," she said, her voice choked with emotion. "I was hurting, and I was selfish. I used you to fill the void that Aliyah left. But I swear, it changed. I fell in love with you, with your kindness, your strength, your passion. You're not a replacement. You're Y/N, and I love you for who you are."

Y/N sat there, processing Regina's words. She felt a rush of emotions - anger, betrayal, confusion. But amidst all these feelings, there was a glimmer of hope. Regina had admitted her mistake, and she had confessed her love for Y/N. It was a small comfort, but it was enough for Y/N to hold onto.

"I need time, Regina," Y/N finally said, her voice steady. "I need time to process all of this. I need to figure out if I can move past this."

Regina nodded, tears streaming down her face. "I understand, Y/N," she said, her voice barely above a whisper. "Take all the time you need. I'll wait for you."

As Y/N left Regina's room, she felt a strange mix of emotions. She was hurt and confused, yes, but she also felt a glimmer of hope. Regina had made a mistake, but she had also shown remorse. And perhaps, just perhaps, they could find a way to move past this and build a stronger relationship. Only time would tell.

A few weeks had passed since Y/N's confrontation with Regina. During this time, Y/N had become distant, her once vibrant personality now replaced with a quiet, contemplative demeanor. The students at school had noticed the change and rumors began to circulate that Y/N and Regina had broken up.

Boys and girls alike began to approach Y/N, trying to win her over with cheesy pickup lines and flirtatious gestures. However, Y/N paid them no heed, her mind preoccupied with other matters. One day, as she was walking towards the bleachers, a boy managed to drag her below them. Before she could react, he leaned in and kissed her.

Y/N tried to push him away, but he was too strong. She felt tears welling up in her eyes, a sense of helplessness washing over her. Just as she was about to give up, she felt the boy being ripped away from her.

Regina stood there, her eyes blazing with anger. She slapped the boy hard across the face, then pushed him towards the Plastics who were watching the scene unfold with wide eyes. Regina then turned to Y/N, her anger quickly replaced with concern.

"Are you okay, baby?" she asked softly, pulling Y/N into a comforting hug. Y/N could only nod, tears streaming down her face as she buried her face in Regina's shoulder. She felt a sense of relief wash over her, grateful for Regina's timely intervention.

Regina held Y/N, her hand gently stroking her back in an attempt to soothe her. "I'm so sorry, Y/N," she murmured, her voice filled with regret. "I should've been there for you. I should've protected you."

Y/N shook her head, pulling back slightly to look at Regina. "It's not your fault, Regina," she said, her voice shaky. "You couldn't have known."

Regina nodded, wiping away Y/N's tears with her thumb. "I promise you, Y/N," she said, her voice firm. "I won't let anyone hurt you again."

As they stood there, wrapped in each other's arms, Y/N felt a sense of comfort. Despite the confusion and hurt of the past few weeks, she knew one thing for certain - Regina cared for her, and she would always be there to protect her. And perhaps, just perhaps, that was enough for now.
