➪ no calls - veli

✰✰✰

About two weeks later:

Maëlys' pov:

Yesterday Sunderland lost the 6th game in a row. I texted and called Jobe just to talk to him but he didn't pick up and just texted me he's fine and doesn't want to talk right now. Being a good girlfriend I left him alone for the night. However, when I tried to call him again this morning he didn't answer.

Jobe's actually been pretty MIA for some time now. I haven't seem him in over a week and he barely replies to my texts or calls. I know these last couple weeks haven't been easy for him with Sunderland losing games again and again. He's always pretty critical with his football so I'm sure this losing span is taking a toll on him.

Still it's not easy for me to just sit back and let him sulk on his own. I texted him multiple times today but he has yet to respond to any and just left me on read. And I know that he's not busy with football or something since Mason's been home from training for an hour now.

I'm honestly starting to worry which is why my brother's the first person I turn to after we finished dinner.
"You've seen Jobe today, right?", I ask Mason.
"Yeah, in training. Why?", he replies.
"Has he seemed off or something? He hasn't been texting or calling me back and I'm getting kinda worried, you know."

"Well, two hours ago he seemed to be fine", Mason shrugs. But as soon as he sees my face he puts his hands on my shoulders as if he was trying to calm me down.
"Hey, I'm sure he's fine. I bet he's just upset about yesterday's game and that's why he's not answering you. Just give him time", he tells me before he lets go of me and makes his way upstairs.

I know my brother only means well but he's not really helping my situation. The only other person I can think of that might know what's up with Jobe is Jude. So I get to my room and grab my phone so I can text him.

future sister-in-law
jude, can we talk for a sec?

future brother-in-law
sure
what's up?

future sister-in-law
have you talked to jobe in the last
few days?

future brother-in-law
not much
he's been a bit distant for some reason🤷🏽‍♂️
why you asking?

future sister-in-law
sunderland lost again yesterday and i
think it's taking a toll on jobe
he hasn't answered any of my calls or texts
could you maybe ask your dad if
jobe's alright?
i don't have marks number
otherwise i'd do it myself

future brother-in-law
lee my dad's in madrid for some days
to visit me and my mum
he's been here since friday

future sister-in-law
wait so jobe's home alone?

future brother-in-law
he is ig🤷🏽‍♂️

future sister-in-law
this is not good

future brother-in-law
i know he's pretty critical when it
comes to football but i think he can
handle himself

future sister-in-law
if you think that you don't know your
brother as good as you thought
if it would be just one bad game you'd
be right but sunderland's had a
bad loosing streak
and if he's been mia to both you and
me there's no way jobe's doing alright
i mean i know he's had struggles with
keeping faith in himself and
his football abilities but this time it
seems like he's down bad
i'm really worried jude
