Chapter 10

Layla Cortdale

Xavier was kneeling on the floor, holding his uncle who was gasping for air. There was an arrow sticking out of his chest, who would do that? I was about to run to Xavier, but someone grabbed my arm and stopped me.

"Danny, let go of me" I yelled

"I can't Layla, it's not safe here, you have to go back into the house" he told me

"No! I need to see if they're alright" I told him

"Layla don't fight me and go back into the house, I'll give you an update as soon as I hear something" he said sternly

"But-" I started to say, but someone cut me off

"LAYLA" a voice boomed

I turned around and saw my dad making his way towards us, he didn't look like a happy camper. He came up to us and took me out of Danny's arm and held me sternly.

"Thank you beta Danny for stopping my daughter and I'm sorry if she is being disobedient" my dad told Danny

"It's alright, but please take her inside the house"

My dad nodded and started walking back inside the mansion while holding my arm, why is he treating me like a little child?

"Dad let go of my arm, I can walk by myself" I told him

He let go, then sighed

"Listen Layla, I don't want you talking to anyone, avoid everyone, and trust no one " he said

I looked at him confusedly

"Dad, why would you say that?" I asked taking a few steps back

"There are some things better left unsaid" he told me

"Okay dad, your starting to creep me out, you have been acting really strange ever since we went on this trip and I want to know why, I don't want to be left in the dark" I whisper yelled

"Layla, the things I don't say to you is for your own good, I'm trying to keep you safe"

I was starting to get frustrated

"Dad, keep me safe from what?! Please just tell me, I'm pretty sure I can handle it"

"Layla-" he started saying, but closed his mouth

"Dad, tell me, I can help you get through it" I told him

"I can't tell you here, but go to your room, you look tired" he said

My wolf was getting pissed and so was I, I have never seen my dad like this, usually he's chill and happy, but know he looked so stressed and agitated.

"Okay, but once we go home your gonna tell me everything" I said to him

"Fine, but go get some rest"

I nodded my head and started walking up to my room. Once I got to my room, I fell on the bed and started wondering if Xavier was alright, I wanted to go see him. He looked so broken when he held his uncle, I just wanted to go and wrap my arms around him and tell him everything will be alright, today had been a stressful day.

I woke up with the sun shinning on my face, I don't remember falling asleep. I opened my eyes and saw the sun just rising, I tried to get up to use the bathroom, but there was a arm over my waist, holding me in place, who's arm is that? Just when I was about the scream, I felt the sparks run through my body, I instantly calmed down. I turned around and saw the face I was yearning to see ever since yesterday. I put my hand the side of his face, he looks so peaceful when he sleeps. I ran my fingers over his soft lips and leaned in and gave him a soft kiss, when I was about to back away, he gripped my waists and held me in place.

"I can get used too this" he said huskily and opened his sapphire blue eyes.

He sat up, his hair was disheveled, and his bare chest was exposed to me. My eyes ran over his smooth 8 pack, I just want to run my hands over it, I bit my lips and my wolf was wide awake and started thinking dirty things, perverted wolf. My eyes wondered to his eyes and I saw love and lust mixed. His hands went to my lips.

"Stop doing that" he said roughly, I know he's fighting his wolf

"Doing what?" I asked innocently

"Biting your lips, I can't control him if you keep on doing that, heck, I don't think I can control myself" he said

I looked down and blushed, he pulled me in for a hug and rested his head on my shoulder

"I was so scared yesterday, when my uncle was struck in the chest, I didn't know what to do, I felt alone and defenseless, but I remembered I have you and that's all that matters" he said

My eyes started to water

"Xavier, your never alone, remember that" I said

He nodded his head

"Before my uncle passed away, he passed the title down to me and did something I never thought he would ever do"

"And what was that?" I asked

"He apologized, he apologized for everything, for not being there for me, ignoring me and for being a bad uncle. I know he wasn't the best person on earth, but he didn't deserve to die like that!"

"Shhh, nobody deserves to die like that, but he's in a better place now with your aunt" I said while rubbing his arms

"I know, but when I find out who did this to him, I'm gonna rip them to shreds"

I nodded my head, showing him I understood

"Umm Xavier, when did you come to my room?" I asked

"I came around midnight, do you know your a snorer?" He said, amusedly

"OMG"

"What? I think its cute" he said

"Shut up, but did anyone see you come in my room?" I asked

"No, everyone was sleeping"

"Okay, well, you should go before anyone wakes up" I told him

"I'll leave in like fifteen minutes"

"Xavier, go. Now." I told him

"No" he said

"Xavier I'm not joking, if someone or worse, my dad, barges through that door and sees me and you on a bed together, it won't look good"

"Don't worry I locked the door last night" he said with a grin

I opened my mouth to say something, but there was a knock on the door, I looked at Xavier, worriedly.
