I couldn't stop smiling as I walked to the cottage, even though I knew it was destroyed being with Mathew again made all the sadness fade away.
Michael was sitting on the floor waiting and he smiled the moment he saw us.
"So... I believe everything went pretty good." He said. I looked up at Mathew and he nodded.
"Why are you here?"
"Who do you think told Serena about how you were whipping like a baby for her love?" They both laughed.
"Well, thanks man." Matt answered.
"Now, what are we going to do? Did you tell her?" Michael asked and I wondered what was Mathew supposed to tell me.
"What are you talking about?" I asked.
Mathew frowned and looked at Michael, they both appearing to have a silent conversation. "What is it? Mathew, you are worrying me."
"I wanted to do this later, but I'll tell you."
"Okay, go on."
"At first my father was a bit wary of our bond and I understood why. When I was born everyone knew I was gonna be the Alpha. A few years afterwards Michael was born and my mother died giving birth. We were sad and mourning her death, but what we couldn't understand was that Michael had been born a human." He trailed off and I looked at Michael, now I understood why we hadn't run through the woods. "People started talking about my mom being unfaithful to my father but he knew it wasn't truth. Since that day my dad lost connection to many packs and we moved to another territory, away from any possible threat."
My stomach turned with realization. "And I'm the threat now."
"Serena, no.."
I let go of his hand and walked away. God! I knew this couldn't all be happiness and love. The worst part of it was that I wanted not to care that he was in danger, because I wanted to love him.
"What does your father think?" I asked as Mathew approached me.
"He agrees with you being my mate, he knows I'll fight for what I love and he will support me. Even if I have to go with your dad and prove him I am worthy of your love." I bit my lip and hugged him.
"Are you sure you wanna do this?"
"Yes, I'm certain. I love you Serena and I won't let you go ever."
I stood on my tiptoes and kissed his lips.
"Alright, then we'll need a plan."
⌘ ⌘ ⌘
"Shh. " I whispered as Mathew and I sneaked into the Pack house. I wasn't sure how we had come up with this plan, but everything had led us to come back to my territory.
No one was coming down the hall, so I opened my bedroom door and once inside, we were safe. "Uff, that was close." I said but I heard a strangle and gasped at what I saw.
Ben was strangling Mathew by the collar as he pushed him into the nearest wall. "Ben!" I whisper-yelled. But my plead was useless, in a second Mathew had turned positions and Ben was underneath him.
Mathew growled. "Matt, wait."
Mathew released him but did not back off, protecting me.
"Ben, what are you doing here?" I asked.
"What am I doing here?" He asked incredulously. "Are you serious? You disappear the day of the Luna ceremony, when I was supposed to have you and you ask why I'm here?"
Mathew growled again at Ben words. He thought he was gonna have me?
"Who are you?" I asked to my best friend, or at least what was left of him.
"What are you talking about?"
"You are not my best friend, and I don't know what is going on with you. But let me tell you something. I won't chose between you or Liam. I had already chosen Mathew. So please, bring my best friend back, you can't keep with this... whatever this is." I murmured.
"I can't." He said.
"Why not? Is it my father?"
"No, it's him." He referred to Mathew.
"I'm sorry Ben, but he is my true mate." I apologized and Mathew's arms surrounded me. "I love him."
He looked at us with disgust. "Then I'm sorry too Serena, but I can not let him be with you." He said before my bedroom door bursted open.
My dad, Liam and two more guards were there staring at Mathew and I was speechless, scared and just wishing for the best.
