Third Person POV

Steve and Annabeth pulled guns from underneath their shields. "Shoot to injure!" Annabeth shouted again as she unleashed a hail of Celestial Bronze bullets on the girls around her. "Nico, go!"

Nico disappeared into Percy's shadow as the son of Poseidon took a shot at Artemis. She snarled and ducked out of the way.

"Where did Nico go?" Percy asked Annabeth over his shoulder as they got back to back. Steve and Bucky did the same next to them.

"He's getting us some backup." She told him by way of explanation.

Percy nodded and turned his attention to the arrows flying around them. He could hear a girl shouting orders to the Hunt, but with guns firing loudly and bowstrings snapping at a steady rate, it was impossible to tell what she was saying.

Arrows clanged off of the two shields as Steve and Annabeth worked double time, shooting and defending at the same time.

"What happens when we run out of bullets?" Steve asked.

"We won't." Bucky replied calmly. "Lady Athena won't allow it."

"Hopefully." Annabeth muttered. Only Percy heard her.

Annabeth and Steve began to move backwards slowly, prompting Bucky and Percy to move. He could see the woman shouting orders now, a girl with short, spiky hair. There was a silver circlet hiding in it, and he recognized her as the Hunt's lieutenant.

Footsteps pounded on the cobblestones leading to where they were.

"That can't be Nico." Annabeth murmured. "It hasn't been long enough for him to get all the way back up here."

"Who else could it be?" Bucky argued.

"Reyna."

"What?" Steve spared a glance at Percy.

"The praetor. She was here before, I didn't notice right away that she had run off, but I think she went to get help."

"Go." Annabeth ordered to Percy and Bucky. "We'll cover you."

Bucky and Steve switched places quickly. Percy and Bucky looked at each other, nodding, and took off towards the direction of the footsteps.

They saw Reyna first, Nico at her heels. It seemed he had met up with her. Along with Reyna were Hazel and Frank, both armed, and the 5th cohort.

"Jackson, what's happening?" Reyna barked.

"Shootout. Steve and Annabeth are covering us."

He turned to point to his girlfriend and her half-brother, and was just in time to see Annabeth collapse with a scream.

"Annabeth!"

"Stop shooting!" The lieutenant's voice broke as she screamed frantically. "Stop!"

Percy darted forward, grabbing his girlfriend's fallen shield and slipping it onto his back, crouching next to Annabeth. There was an arrow sticking out of her side, buried at least half a foot in.

Steve put himself on Annabeth's other side, his shield in the same position as Percy's. Together they covered the immortal 18 year old as Percy inspected the arrow.

Annabeth gasped for breath, eyes filling with tears. "Percy..."

"Hang on Wise Girl." He grabbed her hand. "Di Angelo!"

"Here." He crouched next to Percy.

"Can you move us without hurting her?" Percy asked worriedly.

Nico shook his head. "Not enough shadow. Besides, shadow travel might make the injury worse somehow."

Percy checked the arrow. During the war he had worked with a member of the Hunt, the lieutenant at the time. She hadn't liked him at first, but she'd warmed up to him eventually, and explained some minor secrets of the Hunt.

One of those secrets was that each member had a specific marking on their arrows.

He found it after a moment, two small blue stripes just beneath the fletching.

"Is she going to live?" The current lieutenant ran up. Steve turned his gun on her and she backed up a pace.

Percy stood slowly, his eyes dark. "Why would you care?" He asked in a low voice. "You're the one who shot her."

The girl's brilliant blue eyes, the same color as the stripes on the arrows sticking out of her quiver, glittered with tears as she shook her head. "It was an accident. I wasn't aiming at her, I-"

Annabeth made a small gasping sound of pain and the hunter stopped talking. Percy dropped to his knees again, next to her.

"Praetor!"

"Yes?" Frank and Reyna responded at the same time. Percy gently moved his hands underneath Annabeth and picked her up, leaving the arrow in her side. He wasn't good at removing barbed weapons, he'd leave that to someone professional.

"I need use of your infirmary and your best healers." He said as he turned to them. The clearing was still silent, aside from his voice and the small noises of pain coming from Annabeth and several wounded members of the Hunt.

Reyna nodded. "Come with me."

"I'll find the healers." Frank turned on his heel, Hazel walking with him.

The rest of Percy's group moved after him as Reyna motioned for him to follow her.

"Hang on Wise Girl." He murmured as he walked, trying as much as possible to keep from jostling her.

Reyna suddenly turned to the still enraged but thankfully quiet goddess of the Hunt. "Camp Jupiter extends it's protection and sanctuary to Perseus Jackson, son of Poseidon. If you don't like it, take it up with the namesake of the camp."

Artemis growled, then turned and barked at the Hunt to go back to their camp. She began to glow and everyone closed their eyes.

Reyna looked at Percy and Annabeth. "This way."
