Chapter Twenty Two 'Ring'

"I thought it had died down" Jett spoke the next afternoon while he sat at my dining table

"That's what I assumed too" Said Phoenix opposite him

"What changed?" Nova asked, his body slumped on the recliner

Stirring a cup of coffee for Jett, I shrugged "Nothing as far as I can tell. The first message came out of nowhere"

"You don't think Brody had anything to do with it, right?" Nova turned to me

I shook my head instantly "No way, he's not like that"

"How long have you known him?" It was becoming an interrogation

"He has nothing to do with any of this Nova" I told him adamantly

"You don't know that" This time it was Phoenix, his eyes raised on me

"Actually, I do" I snapped back, tension growing

"Did the person message you back?" Jett cut in before it could get any worse

"They want to meet next Wednesday night, an abandoned warehouse down South side" Phoenix revealed

"In a way, I have to agree with Phoenix here Eden" Nova stood, draping an arm over my shoulders as I placed Jett's coffee down for him "I mean, I'd love to see him get his ass kicked for once, and when Jaston beats him, it'll be over and done with"

"I'm not willing to allow and condone the idea of my brother potentially dying if Jaston and his mates decide they don't want to stop. I can put my money on this being an unsupervised match. There will be no rules, no limits, and majority of the people that will go down in support will be from Jaston's own side. We'd be outnumbered" Jett shook his head, someone finally agreeing with my own opinion

"Then what is your take on it Jett?" Phoenix sighed, leaning back in his chair with his arms crossed

"We will just have to figure something else out, it has to be smart. But in the meantime, my concern is Eden, until this is all completely blown over, unfortunately" He turned his gaze on me "You can't be left alone"

"So I'm going to be babysat like a child?"

"Pretty much" Nova smiled

"Awesome" I sighed, banging my head lightly on the edge of the kitchen counter

"Don't do that Eden"Phoenix scolded

I rolled my eyes

"It won't last forever" Jett tried "We will do what we can to get this over and done with, the right way, where no one else will have to get hurt"

Phoenix quickly scoffed "You can't be serious"

All eyes turned to him

"I can guarantee someone is going to get hurt, all we need to do is ensure it isn't her" He continued, pointing to me quickly

"That's not fair" I shot back "No one here deserves to get hurt"

"Well, maybe Phoenix a little bit" Nova squinted, holding two of his fingers close together to one another

"I agree with Jett, next time Jaston gets his hands on you.." I spoke to Phoenix "He's going to kill you"

Phoenix stood and shook his head "I'm going to go get some sleep"

"..And by the way, I'd kill Jaston before he ever had the chance to kill me" He added, closing the front door as he left

Taking Phoenix's spot at the table, I slumped "This isn't going to end well"
